^^ That's what I'm having trouble with as well :innocent: The clothes don't stand out. I like the models that were picked, but they really don't match the meaningless clothes.

interesting...what are they doing in nyc??...
very german, yes...

but there is something of jil sander there...
the boxy jkt...
the high-waisted silhouette...

i need to see the rest before making a real assessment...

thx khaotickarma and welcome to tFS...:flower:

Is Gabriele Strehle still at it or did they sack her? I think I remember reading about it but can't remember distinctly...she did a pretty good job there, nevertheless. This looks cheesy.

It's still Gabriele Strehle.

This jacket looks quite nice. I definitely see Jil Sander influences now Softgrey has mentioned it.

^Ah...thanks Perle*. Suppose, she's lost it a bit over the last few years, then.

 Your welcome, and I am loving tFs already. You guys are all (for the most part;) ) sooo sweet...

Strenesse is, like Hugo Boss, a very big business here in Germany... very mainstream, for a woman of a certain age that is going to invest into decent quality. Every major deparmentstore stocks the line, even if it is rather unfashionably oriented... just like Jil Sander - You barely see Jil if you have a look on major stockist´s selections over here...

tric...
i think that germany is a world unto itself when it comes to what people wear and what is considered 'mainstream' over there...

much of what one might call 'mainstream' over there is quite 'edgy' by american standards...

ie-the silver lame coat, or the cropped jacket...

btw-what's wrong with dressing women 'of a certain age'...?
those women also have 'a certain disposable income'...no?...
;)

*what do you mean by 'major' stockists?...
:flower:

I love Gabrielle Strehle. This collection is pretty good, although the models look kind of scary.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I didn´t mean to say "of a certain age" as a negative point... "a certain disposable income" would probably describe the whole much easier... :flower:

As for the "german" style and the pieces you picked out from Strenesse (lamé coat and cropped jacket), these are very unlikely to be found in the kind of stores I mean... It´s not so easy to describe what kind of stores they are because a departmentstore-culture as in the US or Paris (Galéries Lafayette, Bon Marché, Barney´s, Neiman Marcus, ...) doesn´t exist over here... It´s like, you have very big clothing stores/chains that would also have an "exclusive" corner, in which you will probably find some Burberry London, Strenesse, Roberto Cavalli, Escada and such, everything tasteful in beige... probably Jil Sander if they are a little more fashionable, but sans any collection highlights, just the plain, simple pieces. It´s interesting to hear that from your perspective that the way germans dress could be regarded as edgy in the US... I should probably keep in mind though that the US are not only NY or other big cities...

i dont mind the styling, its just the lines which are a bit strange , like non fitting or something..
i was looking forward to her NY debut, quite dissapointed to be honest

thanks for the topic and the pics KK, welcome to tFS :flower:
