I looked at the current hat threads and they don't seem to be quite this.

It's nearly summer and already a heatwave where I live. I love the sun, but like many, I am not interested in skin cancer. In previous years I was more the "I'm sure it would never happen to me" type (naturally olive skin), but now I think some sunscreen and a hat couldn't hurt on those really-high-UV days.

While the typical guy could plop on a baseball cap and look fine, I think it's a bit harder for girls. Yes, there's lots of hat choices out there for us, but don't most of them look a bit bizarre?

Not one to want to make an overdramatic "check out my sombrero/fruit-salad-hat/etc" statement, these are the two solutions I've found. What do you think, and what would/do you wear on your head to protect that beautiful face of yours?

Plain military hat in black. I got this photo from IslandSurf.com and mine is similar but no little square logo.

Plain red baseball cap. Mine is from Roots but this cap is from sport-smart.com. Why red? Well I already had a black hat.

The baseball cap makes me look SUPER casual (and maybe too boyish?) do girls tend to wear baseball caps? I'd like some feedback...

I am happy with the black military hat... it suits my "edgy" vibe...

But I would like at least one more hat for summer... are there any types with a full brim (all the way around) that don't scream "I am Blossom and it's still 1990!" ??

oh~~to wear a hat in summer is realy something~!
and I more like the above one~!the red is a little just a little boring

^me too! i love my helen kaminski hat with a ribbon around it...it's so classic but also very pretty.

Can you wear a straw hat with a big brim with jeans and runners? I feel like it needs a skirt.

I bought a hat similar to Lindsay Lohan's Missoni sunhat ... plan to get lots of wear out of it this Summer.

I've bought lovely rafia hat at benetton today! Love it! It's very elegant if worn with dress and looks boho when put together with jeans and wedges
Can't wait to wear it but it's one whole month ahead of summer :(

Check out panama hats! They come in tons of shapes and colors, and its easy to decorate them with pins and scarves.

Oh! Thanks *blush* I love it so much too
And SomethingElse, why did you tell about not to make it wet? Is it extremely dangerous?

Most hats made of natural fibers don't do well with moisture which ruins the form of the hat. If the hat does get wet (even fog), don't try to dry it out quickly or the fibers will shrink. Dry the hat in the shade in a place that has good circulation, well away from any heat source - when it is almost dry, set the proper shape of the hat for the last phase of drying (this is called 'blocking'). The same principle applies to drying leather.

I would like a hat for summer ...not really a panama hat as I feel they are going to be everywhere this summer... something quite chic to wear in the park..

Where do you buy your hats? Any suggestions?

im a hat person completely...
Now im in need to find something summerish if not i will switch to the pirate scarf as a substitute...but hey! i do need a hat... but i haven't find what im looking for... so now that here the summer is coming i wear boyish type caps but thats not the solution...for a day ok but i need something different...

I reckon I will keep my straw fedora from last year - 15 euro from Marks and Spencers mens dept.! There are thousands of really cute straw hats in the shops at the moment but my head is very, very big :( and so it's men's hats for me.
