susanne bisovsky is an austrian designer based in vienna. in her work she plays with the established form of her country's traditional costume, the 'tracht'. she studied under helmut lang, vivienne westwood and castelbajac. she also worked for lang from 1993 to 1995...

i really like her approach to traditional craftmenship, a little tongue-in-cheek but very rich in details.

some pictures from her diploma collection (1995) called 'be tracht ung' (betrachtung means contemplation but spelled like this it evokes being clad in 'tracht'

Yeah,not really getting stupidity equation.

You know,it is nice to see more Austrian designers moving away from that colder,uniform-cum-mundane(W&J,Fabrics Interseason et al) aesthetic. Into something a bit more romantic and organic.

How cool. Was looking a bit more...for her work at HL she's the one who created that latex lace that were so wildly popular in the mid-90's.
