Tao is on The Cut's Top Ten Models to Watch this season! Yes, fashion week!

Tao started hitting the big time when her freshly chopped bowl cut prompted matching wigs at the 3.1 phillip lim runway show this past winter. The Japanese model opened and closed that show, and walked at Miu Miu, where there hasn’t been an Asian model walking since fall 2007. Having cited Tao as his muse, Lim said, “Tao is beautiful in a way that is elegant and a little rebellious. She showed that short hair can be beautiful — it had a strength to it and was very modern.” Just after shows ended, Ralph Lauren printed collection ads that featured Tao in runway stills, and Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot her for a French Vogue editorial for the August issue. She'll be a go-to girl this Fashion Week for every major designer.
