Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen has dismissed claims she is a “dark” person, and insists it’s just the way she is perceived by the media.


The 16-year-old has currently put her acting on hold to front her new rock band The Pretty Reckless.
And she thinks her grunge-chick look is to blame for the picture painted of her by the tabloids.


“Dark is a relative term,” says Taylor - best known for her role of Jenny Humphrey in the hit TV drama.


“It just depends on what you consider dark, you know? I think some people think I’m a Satan worshipper or something.”
The Pretty Reckless will be releasing their debut album later this year, while their first EP is out next month.

she was so cute at the start of GG. Although I agree that she may have gone slightly astray, but I think most people have that period, especially when they're young. It just so happens that Taylor is in the public eye. She's probably just trying to work out who she is.

when her band were supporting the veronica's on their tour, one of the girls wrote something on twitter along the lines of taylor firing her original band members for not looking 'rock 'n' roll' enough...

She probably held auditions / open call.

They look old, like past their 30s. I can't imagine what it must be like to be a 30/40 something year old musician, supporting a 16 year old "rock star". Kind of embarrassing.

Is there any evidence she even assembled her band herself? There's a good chance that they were put together for her by her recording company. It's common to sign one person to be the lead of a group and then create the band around them out of pre-contracted musicians within the company who do general filler work for them, though I can't speak towards if even that much creative thought process went into The Pretty Reckless.

I don't think it's manufactured; she did a demo, got a deal and then wanted a band instead of being a solo artist. So, the label got a good group together with some chemistry, one of the guys in the band co-wrote a lot of songs with her.
