I agree to a certain extent that Taylor is in the public eye and should act more responsibly but on the other hand she is acting like most other 16 year olds and why shouldn't she be able to?
You could also compare her to Emma Watson who is older, but she has always maintained a respectful image.

Taylor's going at an even faster rate than Lindsay. If I recall correctly, at 16, Lindsay was a high school cheerleader. Possibly filming Freaky Friday. Not going on tour (tours = alcohol + illegal substances. Any band will tell you that), partying and flashing her panties at the camera. Taylor is not even 16, she's 15. Both appear to have mothers who enable them.

On the other hand, Hayden Panettiere was pole dancing and smoking with Paris Hilton when she was 16 and has a similar family situation and she turned out pretty respectful. Kinda.

Anyway, I think part of Taylor's behaviour and style is due to her belief in this rebel image. She thinks she's a rebel. She's anti-Disney, sings her own songs (you can't put words in her mouth), doesn't have a stylist (you can't make her wear what she doesn't want to), is a "rockstar" instead of a popstar, dresses in a way that is inappropriate for a 15 year old... She smokes, drinks, wears "hooker boots", leather jackets, fishnets... all the stuff that is associated the rebel image. It's cool to be a rebel, at least in the mind of a teenager. No one wants to be the goody-two shoes Disney star.

Good point. The thing about being a rebel though, is that it comes naturally...it's not an image, it's an attitude. To me, it seems that Taylor is a bit of a wannabe. Obviously, I don't know what she's like but what indicates to me that she is a wannabe is the fact that she changed so quickly. She hasn't always been like this.

Yes, that's what I think too. It's like the Gossip Girl stylists completely changed Jenny's make-up and clothes to reflect that the character was rebelling against her father (doing what she wanted, being independent, breaking the rules). And Taylor started dressing the same way because she wants to break rules too and get away from the typical good girl image she had at the time (honey blonde, blue-eyed, 14, cute as a button). Though I don't think the image she has now is much better because it doesn't come with a good reputation.

Anyway, I think this is totally relevant to her style. It's about how she started dressing and styling herself differently.

He's the lead singer of a band called Semi Precious Weapons (which is an AMAZING band)

i think she looked great at the casio event. and her hair looked pretty healthy compared to how it looked with those extensions for GG!
