Thank you letters: email or hard copy?

good job choosing the email. i used to write thank you notes earlier in my career and they were always a pain in the butt, especially if you interview with 7-8 people. now that i'm on the other side, i prefer email. easier for you, easier for me. i can't believe a person would pick one candidate over another just because that person sent a thank you note through mail. are your resumes/experiences/personal impressions so similar that a silly thank you note makes the difference??
