the men's white dress shirt with half the front tucked and the other half not...:p

HO!!...
i figured it out...
after noticing edk doing this...and then ftb...
i started seeing it here and there...
and i think i have discovered the root....

HIP HOP....
specifically...
kanye west in his gold digger video...

my waiter last night was doing the same thing...

so it this catching on?...
seems like it is to me...:innocent:
*fashion coming from the streets and not the runways again!!...

;) :flower:

I'm strangely attracted to Kanye West in that video  perhaps it's the lure of the ol' 1/2 tuck, and the fact that he has his back to the camera. :innocent:

I'm not sure if I've seen this much in the UK (purposefully anyways) by anyone other than early teen boys trying to rebel against the 'shirts tucked in system' but if they're already 1/2tucked they can whip it back in if they spot a devil teacher on the horizon, but they still have their element of cool ....as it's not all tucked in, and the girls will still speak to them

fff--you just nailed it!!!...

that is EXACTLY kanye west's image...
his whole thing is that he is a 'college boy'...
he's wearing rugby's and schoolboy and collegiate style clothing all the time..
then he adds the cap and bling with some east coast attitude
and voila-~!...

street cred...
its ays:...
i'm a good boy...
but not so good that i am boring
...
;)

I first noticed this look about 10 years ago, in one of TLC's very first videos ("Hat 2 Da Back")...Big baggy jeans, big baggy plaid shirts, half tucked in into their pants, with the belt-buckle undone..I still remember that look because I tried to copy that look back in 8th grade...:flower:

I always thought of it as the "frat boy look" in college...

No thanks, not for me... but then again, I even tuck in most of my t-shirts... :D

the guys here have been doing this for quite a long while. ;)

hehe i wasn't doing an intentional half tuck, the half that seemed tucked was really bunched up in my sweater.

I'm personally not a fan of this look...some guys (e.g. Nicolas Tse, Hong Kong celebrity) look really forced when trying to pull it off. Kanye does it pretty well in the Gold Digger video though...it looks fresh w/ the Gucci jeans and crisp white shirt :D

This reminds me of the front-tuck, where gents tuck in the front of their shirts, usually to show off the belt-buckle, or whatever other eye-catching details lies in that vicinity...Now it's morphed into this 1/2 tuck...A prime example of the evolution of fashion.;)

I personally don't like that look, but it seems to look great on the Dior Homme runway... ^_^

ta da!!!...
i KNEW it was a dior homme thing if edk was doing it...

...

thanks baizilla...

^_^

Yeah I was gonna mention Dior Homme S/S 05 too...that outfit is perfect in every way...the orange overdyes, hanging bowtie, scuffed sneakers...THAT'S how the half tuck look should be worn IMO! Meticulously careless.

np soft ^_^

Yeah exactly FtB that look is so perfected in every way... i would say that it is probably the one time i've seen it work... (haven't seen Kanye in Gold digger yet)

Kanye in Gold Digger works because he's kinda of dancing and moving around so the 'sweating performer in a bar who doesn't really care how his clothes are moving' thing is effective. I think that contrast between slick and careless works better because he's wearing Gucci...i think if someone took a still shot of him wearing that outfit just standing it wouldn't look as good :p

=trying too hard pretentious wannabe in my book......

but that's just my opinon of course...
i have to say that as much as i didn't like it at first though...
my eye is getting used to it remarkably quickly...
maybe because i keep seeing it lately...

still can't say i like it, but it's less annoying than it was at first...

;) ^_^
