The Olympics I hold more esteem for than, say, the Oscars, Emmys, Academy Awards. For one thing, it's not a matter of opinion, who is good or bad at what they do. The athletes prove it on the field, ring, court, pool, track, stage, etc.

I watched the trials for Track and Field today. Such amazing strength, men and women both! A gentleman from America broke the 100M record of 9.8 secs with 9.77 secs. :muscles:

What I love the most is how human evolution is involved. For example, in the 100M dash Mens, all the men were black. Western Africans are better at sprinting; Eastern Africans are better at distance. In the shot put, all the men were white. White men have stronger upper body strength.

But most of all, the world can come together for one common good: the world of sports. The fact that healthy bodies (without the use of steroids) and accomplish great feats in athletics through rigorous training, practice, endurance, and team work. It's a beautiful and truly touching thing.

I agree. It is a time for nations and human beings as a whole, to come together regardless of their differences. For once every four years, we can all forget that we have enemies and differences and strive for greatness.

I will be watching the Summer Olympics this year ^_^

What events is everyone looking forward to most? :flower:

Definitely swimming and track! :buzz:

I love the Olympics, I'm so excited for it to start. Track and Field is my favourite but I also really enjoy watching the gymnastics.

I can't wait for the Olympics. They're so exciting. I'm looking forward to gymnastics mostly, but also soccer, swimming and diving.

I was in Beijing a few days ago. Construction is crazy hectic.

The atmosphere is not...clean though. Everything looks like it's blanketed in a blanket of dust. The sky is constantly grey smog.

I'm so excited for gymnastics!

I love the Olympics. I don't get to watch it as much as I'd like to, but I love following the medal totals.

Being Chinese American, i'm going to have a hard time picking a side...

Gymnastics, Diving & Swimming are my faves. I love the Olympics and can't wait until they start!! :buzz:

Gymnastics! I'm rooting for Russia! And I can't wait for specific events like balance beam and floor! :buzz:

My brother was talking about that last night. Paul was being interviewed by DirectTV. -_-

10 more days!! can't wait...it'll be interesting to see if china can win more medals than the us this time around. they've been creeping closer and closer...
very excited for the swimming competitions and also some of my favourite sports that they never show here in the us, like water polo, handball, volleyball.
the bird's nest stadium looks amazing, let's just hope nothing happens

I just can't wait for that. I hope my country will have more medals than the last time. And of course I hope everything will be OK.

And it's very interesting if USA will be beaten in total classification by China or Russia this time.
