what is it about Zara constantly copying?

I don't understand how the fashion industry can support Zara? Their business model is to copy others and then sell it cheaply. I thought we are living in a time where fast fashion is something negative and copying to resell it for cheap would be too?

They famously copied Peter Do's Combat Boots. Now they also copied Helmut Langs Pre Fall 24 campaign.

Helmut Lang's layout was to have the street corners written on the image. Zara literally went to those street corners and ripped HL off one to one, with a different photographer.

i want to victim blame

i think all these brands are making it too easy for zara/cos to copy them, its all the same stuff, mark borthwick/juergen style photography, minimal jil sander esque clothes, phoebe's celine tailoring.. etc.. we are culturally stuck in this moment and cant move on, aritzia h&m a+f even the crappy brands have this exact aesthetic.. look at aritzia's imagery its very juergen tellery styled like lotta volkova did it... everyone wants to occupy the same space..

fair point but shouldn't the brands that have unlimited resources responsible to try something new? instead of just ripping off the smaller ones?
