Clinique advocates 'fitness for the face' with new Sculptwear range

moodiereport.com

Last month in London, Clinique unveiled a key new addition to its skincare offer – the Scultpwear range. The Moodie Report was the exclusive travel retail media at the launch. The new line will be introduced to travel retail worldwide from October.

The Sculptwear collection, described as ‘fitness for the face’, comprises three products – a Lift and Contour Serum for Face and Neck, a Contouring Massage Cream Mask and a new Sonic System Massage Treatment Applicator.

Speaking at the launch event, Executive Director of Skin Physiology and Pharmacology Clinique Research & Development, Worldwide Dr Tom Mammone explained that the Sculptwear range, which took almost a decade to develop, is aimed at energising and re-awakening the skin.

“This is an exciting project for me, one that we’ve been working on for eight to ten years," he noted. "It’s based on morphology, the structure of tissue and body. The Sculptwear franchise is three-dimensional; we are no longer just looking at the surface of the skin, but at the deeper tissues too."

Sculptwear Lift and Contour Serum for Face and Neck claims to firm and sculpt cheeks for a more contoured, defined appearance, tone the jawline and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the neck. Featuring polysculpt technology, and ingredients including sweet almond seed extract, red algae extract and soybean seed extract, the serum is said to provide the skin with visible tightening benefits thanks to the presence of Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA).

The serum also features a complex of glucosamine and bamboo and pea extract, which is claimed to increase the natural production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin.

Clinique recommends applying the serum generously to the face and neck twice daily, morning and evening, before moisturising. The recommended domestic price-points for the Sculptwear Lift and Contour Serum for Face and Neck are £46 (€58) for 30ml, £65 (€78) for 50ml and £108 (€124) for 100ml.

The Massage Cream Mask is formulated with glucosamine, pea and bamboo extract, plus whey protein to make skin look and feel firmer. Other ingredients include Chlorellagen, said to stimulate natural collagen and elastin production, and extracts of Crithmum Maritimum, sunflower, cucumber, barley and sweet almond seed.

Explaining the idea behind Clinique’s Sculptwear Contouring Massage Cream Mask, Dr Mammone said it was designed to be massaged into the skin using the Clinique Sonic System Massage Treatment Applicator: “Key to the design of the product was to both give the lines and wrinkles the firming element but also give moisture to the skin and a barrier-building quality," he observed. "The mask is designed to work with the massage head, as the two provide a long-lasting, lubricant effect on the skin. It’s also good for delivering the product.

"In our experience, we have noticed that when people put a product on their fingertips they don’t get the same evenness of delivery on the face as they would if they used the applicator, which is what the massage head will do. It will massage in the mask and evenly distribute it on the jawline and under the neck,” continued Mammone.

The duo is said to help skin feel lifted and firmer, while hydrating and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. To use the mask on its own, consumers should apply an even and generous layer all over the face and neck using an upward motion, leave on for five to ten minutes, then gently tissue off the excess and massage any residue into skin.

Clinique Sculptwear Contouring Massage Cream Mask is priced domestically at £36 (€48) for 50ml. The Sonic System massaging Treatment Applicator will retail at £20 (€25).

According to tests conducted by the brand, after four weeks’ use of the Serum and Cream Mask, 80% of women felt that their cheeks looked more defined.

Brand: Clinique for Men

Launch: Clinique has expanded its Sonic System portfolio with a new Clinique for Men Deep Cleansing Brush and Charcoal Face Wash (pictured). Both are available now in Clinique travel retail doors worldwide.

Details: As its name suggests, Clinique for Men Charcoal Face Wash features charcoal to detoxify and cleanse deeply without drying or irritating skin. Glycerin attracts water to restore suppleness; the anti-irritant caffeine helps to nourish and soothe skin from razor burns and nicks.

Complementing the new face wash is Clinique for Men’s new Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush. The oval-shaped head is designed to deliver targeted cleansing in the hard-to-reach, contoured areas of the face such as the nose, hairline and chin. The charcoal-infused bristles draw out debris to help keep skin clear, according to the brand. There are two strengths of bristles to deliver a gentle, custom cleansing experience.

Clinique goes compact with 2-in-1 Powder Foundation and Concealer

Clinique has launched a new 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation and Concealer, available now at Clinique travel retail locations across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Said to offer consumers "a portable way to flawless skin", the powder formulation contains a moisture locking blend of glycerin, phytosqualane and murummuru butter and is double-milled, resulting in a more lightweight texture, the brand said.

According to Clinique, the 2-in-1 foundation and concealer reflects light to "optically resurface the skin", creating a natural-matte finish as well as controlling shine.

The double-sided tear drop shaped applicator is said to allow for precise and buildable coverage; a sponge side delivers light coverage while a fuzzy, flocked side picks up more product for fuller coverage. Featuring a pointed tip, the applicator can be used to conceal individual blemishes as well as making it easier to apply the foundation on hard to reach places such as around the nose.

The sugary exfoliator removes dry flakes from the lips using naturally derived ingredients such as beet sugar granules and avocado oil. Clinique recommend applying the scrub to the lips with a gentle massage before gently removing with a tissue.

The balm then soothes and moisturises with coconut oil and shea butter while adding a hint of colour.

Clinique has strengthened its eye product offer with the introduction of Pep-Start Eye Cream.

Designed to combat dark circles and puffiness and speed up cellular metabolism, Pep-Start Eye Cream is a lightweight combination of soothing and energising anti-irritant ingredients.

The ‘Pep’ in the name refers not only to the stimulation the product gives to the eye area but also the fact that the product contains seven peptides. The peptides, along with calming botanical extracts, are said to maintain collagen and leave the eye area brightened, refreshed and smoothed.

The applicator is custom-designed for ease and to enhance the use of the product, said Clinique. According to the brand, users should ‘snap’ open the custom-spherical applicator to dispense a pea-sized amount of cream to the tip, then ‘pop’ the applicator to the closed position and ‘swipe’ the product in a circular motion around the eye area, including lids.

Clinique Vice President Global Product Development Eileen Higgins said: “Busy and demanding schedules, late nights out and inadequate hours of sleep can all lead to tired looking eyes. All these factors affect the delicate, thin skin around the eye area which is always hard to treat and reveals signs of dehydration, puffiness and dark circles. Pep-Start Eye Cream helps to reveal brighter, more luminous eyes.”

Pep-Start Eye Cream is available now at Clinique travel retail counters across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas and will be on-counter from April 2016 in Asia Pacific travel retail locations.
