I'm glad I randomly came upon this thread. All the posts were very educational. I've just watched the first episode of Signe Chanel and it was very inspiring. :)

I use Signe Chanel as a personal pep rally. It just always inspires me highly! ^_^
I know! I had felt as though I was going through a creative slump over the past several weeks...but after watching Signe Chanel I've been totally inspired and ready to create!

I just finished watching the whole Signe Chanel from top to bottom and I was so moved and inspired and I will NEVER complain again about sewing something, because it is not on the level of what these wonderful dedicated women are making.

^I know! Such dedication to their work! After watching it, I wanted to work there. Too bad I can't sew in a straight line...

Even though I LOVE Signe Chanel, I kind of wish that it would have showed the making of Haute Couture FW 06 instead of FW 04...FW 06 is my most favorite Chanel show:rolleyes:!

I also wish that we could see a similar documentary of Haute Couture for Dior, Lacroix and Gaultier...:innocent:

Everytime I get mad, I always tell myself that I could be one of the people sewing couture dresses at Chanel, and I feel a little better.:D

I love Madame jacquline.....Her chubby and awkward walking and her ironic giggles and phrases are amusing..i love when she hid behind the wedding gown from being seen by karl...Poor jacquline was spotted by him and given some more works to do and she said "damn'
and does anyone know the orchestra at the end of the documentary after 2 seamstresses said "At you"

Are you talking about the Anglomania exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art? That was last year I think. Or maybe two years ago?

No. There's an exhibit in Britain this summer featuring couture.

I read about it in several magazines.

It's like the British counterpart of the Costume gala.

In response to "What the hell is this?"

It's a dress from Christian Dior haute couture, S/S 04, the Egyptian themed collection.

But, the difference is......

i recorded a brilliant documentary called secrets of haute couture on pbs.

does anyone know where i can buy this?

also, does anyone know of haute coutures best clients besides becca cason thrash and daphne guinness? i know of other much older women who buy/collect couture, but are there any other fairly well-known women in their 40's-50's who also love/collect haute couture?
