I just love how they walked away from their royal family duties but their titles are the only thing they got going for them, and they would never secure $30 million deals otherwise. Surely people see the irony in that?

I assume it's more complicated than that. Edward is a savvy guy, he's not going to feature Meghan right now - just a few months after he put The Queen on the cover. It's clear where his loyalties lie, for now. There was a rumor she asked for the September cover of American Vogue, and Anna countered with an offer for October but only if it included Harry and the kids. Not sure if that's true or not, but it feels like it could be. And frankly this cover has made much less of a splash than I think people might have predicted, in part because there's nothing really new being presented here (visually or otherwise) and also because it's The Cut, not exactly a publication available on every newsstand coast to coast or appearing on everyone's social media feeds. This cover is just one part of a marketing push she's engaged in around some projects, and so news coverage isn't necessarily referencing this magazine, they may be referencing the podcast instead, which appears to be a juicier source of gossip for media outlets to use.
