Probably because Vogue (or Condé Nast) are too conservative and don’t want editors to try to outperform Anna Wintour.

Ah, the ever-transparent policies of Condé Nast—where the mediocrity thrives! Clearly, we can’t have anyone proving that better products are possible than the masterpieces churned out by Wintour and Enninful. I firmly believe poor guy probably had his hands tied when at Vogue Italia. And now, behold, Vogue editions are being handed over to a brigade of faceless ex-interns, ensuring the "old queen" can reign supreme.

I don't think this makes sense, because Alt and Edward did this month after month! Maybe there was someone at Farneti's time who no longer works with him (maybe Giovanni Bianco?) and today they are new collaborators.
