This fashion editorial reminds me of the time when US Vogue used to travel to all those incredible far-flung locations for their shoots in the mid to late 1960s. This editorial is far from perfect but it has nice moments.

agree with you @Lola701 this cover could’ve been a little more but the editorial is great.

it’s awesome to see one of our favourites nab ad campaigns and fashion covers back and forth!

to more Vittoria!

@chrisand489 Our girl!
However, I just think that if Farneti had done this work on Vogue Italia he wouldn't have been so hated.

Love Vittoria, love Emmanuelle but the work of these photographers lately is just so basic. This could've been shot any other photographer around. It's like no one has an identity anymore and they're all copying each other.

Vittoria rarely does wrong, and when it's wrong, I doubt it's on her! ( Now if only she slays the catwalks this months to add to her current slayage! )

Agree that it's clearly not Vittoria's best piece of work ever but wouldn't call it basic. Just not as thrilling as it should've been with names like those involved in making it happen.

This is the result of our industry not being more closed off. We used to have standards of excellence across the board and you were expected to stand out not blend in. Now the bar is so low and anyone is allowed to join the club with very little skill/talent.

I agree with you to an extent - but I also like the idea of allowing more people in and not being so exclusive like it was years ago. The problem is that, instead of trying to differentiating from one another it looks like they're all copying each other or they just stopped tryingg... Photographers, stylists, art directors. Nothing has the slightest story-telling or identity anymore.

Nice to see D la Repubblica back on our radar - I love this! Must've been last year when the magazine last truly took my fancy. What a fabulous cover and accompanying shoot, which captures Vittoria wonderfully. She's such a star! Alt on her top form with the styling here, and I love the beauty styling too.

Thanks a million for the fab HQ uploads, @Zorka :heart:

Yes. But in this case, there's such a directional mood, a convincing attitude, and a distinct style that delivers a simple but strong fashion story.

The selects of Vittoria out on the street look suspiciously composited, especially the shot of her crossing the street and the one of her in the Dolce net dress.

But if I lower my standards a tad, then the simple but generously-spaced layout really does elevates the photography and the minimal styling, thankfully. There’s a tinge of late-80s 90mm camera charm with the (artificial) grain and out-of-focus of certain shots— and I can imagine Emamuelle’s dreaming that Vittoria is really wearing Azzedine Alaia, Montana, Calvin Klein with Alain Mikli sunglasses. I was looking at an ELLE issue from sometime in the late-80s, and there was a story of Famke Janssen, who was an Alaia muse back in the day; she was styled in Alaia, and this story resembles that story, a lot. The shot of Vittoira with boots in the bubblebath is straight out of a late-80s ELLE page. And Vittoria looks just like Carol Bouquet in some shots. Sort of some kind of wonderful but as usual, D never fully take you all the way there. D needs to be a proper monthly publication with a tight offering of concentrated high fashion stories that’s given more time to be developed and produced. Because Emanuel clearly has stories to tell with D.
