I spotted the Birkin in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. When I told my friends how much it retails, they said, "It's just a bag."

I think the idea of an iconic handbag also comes from the fact that it can be recognized by a majority of people. "That's an expensive bag, you know." Louis Vuitton takes the cake there.
