The Last Movie You Saw?

Yeah some of it did feel rushed. Like how did they just skip how he got on the boat lol. Altho in the silent film at least the scenes of him getting to the boat were pretty goofy so idk how they’dve executed that

^^^ Willem has unfortunately replaced Nocloas Cage as the hyped go-to kooky eccentric weirdo that the masses adore.

Also count orlok was hot sorry I DONT make the rules

LMFAO absolutely, unabashedly, unashamedly kind of hot… The scene when he’s first discovered laying in his coffin, and the angle of the shot looking up his torso… Jarin Blaschke always knows how to shoot naked men so exquisitely, from The VVitch, to The Northman, to this.

You know what I find equally interesting, hilarious and tragic: North Americans go on and on about Lily-Rose being Johnny’s daughter, but never mentions her equally famous mother, who she’s a splitting image of, if they only knew of Vanessa fcukn Paradis. It really shows just how ignorant most Americans are of anyone that isn’t… American.

I was riveted pretty much all throughout Queer. Mostly just on the strength of Daniel Craig, I found him very.... endearing and lovable, in the movie. The art direction and costumes were somewhat of a treat to see on a big screen, too.

Yes, Jonathan's wardrobe was so good.

The "slightly boring" was maybe more me than the movie.
The lethargic atmosphere, specially in part one, makes totally sense because the character played by Daniel is addicted to different substances and also because the young guy is a mystery.
You need that rythm in order to tell that story.

Nosferatu (Lily-Rose Depp ver.), I liked it well enough - and mostly because of her performance, I think she did really well - but I can't tell whether the story has an inherent cheesiness or it's my knowledge of Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula and the almost beat for beat copy pasting of the story that makes me think it was cheesy and lacking in the kind of atmospheric unsettling quality I've come to associate with Robery Eggers' best work. (agree that it went downhill after Orlok getting there too) Though ofc I prefer Depp/Hoult acting skills to whatever Winona/Keanu were doing in Dracula it's not even a contest.

oh and I forgot to mention - Dune! (2021 Chamalet/Zendaya version)

It made me miss the time when blockbusters could still feel cinematic and like an actual vision onscreen vs a paint by numbers.
