The Last Movie You Saw?

Also I went to a discussion after the screening and someone kept calling Jack Palance ugly and thats why he worked so well for the role. ... ? I did not like that and do not agree. I mean yeah he may work better in this role than Marlon Brando because he has a more unconventional style of beauty and is charming but in 1952 I would've definitely take his l**d any day 👎

Jesse was great in Bugonia (and everything else he's in), and it's a far better performance than some other sure-to-be-nominated performances in Best Actor (DiCaprio, Jordan), but the movie itself? I enjoyed some of it, but it felt at least 30 minutes too long. I like Emma Stone a whole lot, generally, but I feel she's given better versions of the same performance before.

Frankenstein was just ok/blah, but I did love some of the costumes and imagery, so I'm glad to have seen it on the big screen.

Watched Marriage Life (2007) on youtube because it's been a slow weekend and I'll click on whatever and I'm just going to say inconsistent haircuts in period films a) trigger me and b).. always a good sign that a movie is going to flop.

Everyone looks like this cause.. 1949:

And they're all perfectly fine interacting with some off-duty member of Bon Jovi, as if the little 3-hair bangs from the 80s would be totally normal in a respectable context of the late 40s, puhlease..

Hope on the Stage (accompanying niece). Fun because all the little girls in the audience were screaming their hearts out in classic boyband-reaction style.

I saw Sentimental Value this past weekend. Hard to manage expectations when the filmmaker's last work was one of my all-time favorites, and this was not at that level. Still, it's a very good movie and a worthy entry in Trier's filmography. Performances are great all around. Wanted to cry when they whitewashed the exterior of that gorgeous house.

The Big Heat. I'm aware I'm being that person. I don't know why I can't stop comparing old noirs to modern color pop culture movies, because it really is apples and oranges in so many ways, but come on guys. Do gaffers exist anymore?
