The Last Movie You Saw?

mmm, donnie brasco is good!

i recently saw an aussie film called "Somersault" it was at the cannes film festival, top film, recommend for all...i luved it, cute lil aussie indie film that got my heart so bad...

I just bought Eternal Sunshine on DVD.
Jim and Kate are amazing.
Great love story, for you saps out there.

And I saw a movie called, Saw, oddly enough.
Think Se7en slash Marilyn Manson music video.
Very stylish, scary at times, but definitely delivers in shock factor.
Great for the upcoming Hallowe'en season.

i luv ghostworld!!! being in that sorta stage in my life...i can totally feel what the characters are feeling...and wasn't the wardrobe gorgeous for that film, so neat and quirky...i luved it!!!

B) Charade again, with Audrey Hepburn...
Also the beginning of this French movie called Dieu est Grande, Je Suis Toute Petite. Which I'm pretty sure I've spelled totally wrong. Anyway, I quickly discovered that not only did it not have subtitles as I'd expected, my knowledge of spoken French really isn't as great as I had hoped. I gave up within the first fifteen minutes, although I'm going to reattempt it with the English version.

such a sweet movie.

I just saw Paths of Glory - it's a film that made Kubrick famous.

I just watched a bunch of good movies a couple nights ago...

Thirteen (fantastic; similar concept to "Kids", but totally different)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the newer remake)
Freaky Friday (the newer remake)
Freaky Friday (the old one; I actually liked the new one better)
The Missing
X-Men 2 (I've seen it three or four times now)
In the Cut

I'd been expecting much better. :ninja:

Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind

The Grudge. I've never seen such a big rip off of The Ring. Lame ending, plot, exc. Though it is fun to call my friends and make weird noises on the phone. ;)

I saw this very odd movie called Saw. At first I thought it was disgusting with all that blood and horrible cuts but then I realised it's a cool movie..my favourite for this year. I started to like Carl Elwes  but I don't want to see that movie again

White Chicks was quite ok  & Shark Tale had a lame script but wonderful graphics :flower:

Half of Chocolat, I fell asleep half way through... I really want to see the end I was enjoying it

Velvet Goldmine
Gormenghast

I'm going through a bit of a Jonathan Rhys Mayers obsession phase right now :ninja:

The Grudge is also a Japanese movie, like Ringu..I don't know if this is the English version though.

 I saw it today and now me and my friend are all calling each other making that sound...

I freaked myself out though when I was washing my face a minute ago...I was washing and my arm brushed up on flesh and I had music on and the song kinda had this sound that was similar to that sound they that they do...I freaked and poked myself in the eye....

Turns on the "flesh" is those yellow rubber gloves soaking wet and kinda soapy from when I was cleaning..

I'm a dumb*** I know..

Are you by any chance in Vancouver?
They screened this film here recently.
[I think I mentioned it in a previous post.]
Pretty good.
Great ending, very definitive of the madness that the whole movie is based on.
I thought of it as 'Se7en' slash Marilyn Manson music video.

BAH.
White Chicks was a disaster! Haha.
Two black men squeezed in ruffled minis, and 'Dude where's my coutoure?" tees, does not a hit movie make!

And to anyone who HASN'T seen the American version of 'The Grudge', don't. Go through the trouble of finding the originals [Ju-On: The Curse, Ju-On: The Grudge, Ju-On: The Grudge 2]. You will be much happier with these than the worthless Westernized edition. Much more atmospheric, not using the old 'string instruments getting louder, telling you EXACTLY when the scare will happen' trick, horror movies from our side of the pond seem to utilize. The Japanese actually take time to build up the scare, with long drawn out silences, and subtle sounds that make your skin crawl. So when the little boy meows, it is the only thing you hear, nice and loud, clear, and horrifying.

But I'll give in to The Ring. The American one was wonderfully adapted. Gore Verbinski used very stylish elements to update the story, and improved on what was already a classic in Asian horror. I hope the Ring 2 will be just as good.

But here are a couple of other films I stumbled upon while searching for good Asian thrillers:

A Tale of Two Sisters: A Korean [I think] film about two sisters who come back to their house, after being held in a mental institution. But once they enter their house, memories of the past come back to haunt them, along with a brutal step mother, and a murderous ghost. Amazing movie, with a great twist in the end. Heart wrenching, and tragic. Definitely one of my all time favorites.

Battle Royale: Would you kill your best friend? A group of students are chosen to take part in 'Battle Royale', a game where they are thrown into a deserted island, and given weapons to kill each other. The last one standing gets to go back home. A wonderful film, filled with great death scenes, and Japanese girls getting into deadly cat fights.. [Including Chiaki Kuriyama, from Kill Bill fame. I heeeeeart!]

Haute Tension: [Okay, NOT Asian, but is foreign nonetheless.] A French horror gem, about two college co-eds visiting family in a secluded farm. One of the most disturbing films as of yet, with VERY realistic deaths [Yes, a family gets brutally killed, one by one. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. I'll leave it at that.] It's not like current horror films in North America, where there's a bit of dark humor thrown in to break the tension here and there. In this film, there is no escape. Almost 3/4 of the film has no dialogue what so ever, [Only screams, gasping, and blood spattering noises] but still keeps you in a death grip of fear. Unbelievable. Disappointing conclusion to the entire thing however, but the first hour keeps you on the borderline of 'pee your pants scared', that I'll be quite surprised if you're still around to actually SEE the ending.

Go to imdb.com to check out trailers and info on these horror movies.
If you get a chance, let me know what you think of these, and I'll be more than happy to suggest more!
