Anyone see the trailer yet for this new Nicholas Sparks movie? Stars Miley Cyrus, Greg Kinnear & Kelly Preston. I won't lie - I'm a sucker for his stuff - they're always really sweet and really sad and this looks like it's got a lot of both.

thoughts?

I don't know, the fact Miley is there doesn't pleases me at all. I didn't read the book so I have no idea how the story is. I love romances/dramas more than any other genre but I'm not impressed by the trailer. The story itself must be really good because it's written by Sparks. Guess a lot of people will be seeing it just because Miley is there.

Actually, I think a lot of people will see it because it's a based on a Sparks novel. He wrote the screenplay/book with Miley in mind as the lead for it, so there really isn't getting around her being in it. Personally, I really like the fact that she's kind of moving away from her Hannah Montana image and trying something a little more different and grown-up.

I would probably enjoy it better, if it was with random/non-famous actors like in the The Notebook. I in fact really don't care about Miley, I'm pretty tired of seeing her everywhere all the time. So no, I'm not interested to see this movie.

I think a lot of people will see it because Miley. How many people know Sparks and how many knows Miley ?

While I've always enjoyed Sparks' movies, I've never appreciated the way he writes. His words are forced and rushed, lacking in eloquence. That being said, this stars Miley - it'd take a lot to get me into the theater.

Hmm...valid point. But I do feel like Nicholas Sparks does have a lot fans that will see the movie. Maybe not as many as Miley fans, but he definitely has his fair share of hopeless romantics, lol. I think I'm going to give her a chance with this - I just feel like because it's different from her whole Hannah Montana image, it would be interesting to see what she does with the character.

I see, well the actor that falls in love with Miley in the movie, doesn't seem to transmit that much emotion from what I saw in the trailer, pretty boring, didn't seem like a good actor. Then I don't like Miley ... besides, she's not a beautiful girl, she doesn't fit with the actor's beauty, like in the Notebook and Walk to Remember, she's there because well it was apparently made for her and because it's Miley Cyrus and everybody knows her. The location seems great, near the beach, awesome. Well there's a good actor there, Greg Kinnear, that plays Miley's father.

Just because it's from a Sparks' book doesn't mean it will be a good movie, remember Nights in Rodanthe ? It was a bad romance, I went to watch it at the cinema and left mad and disappointed.

hmmm, looks like an alright movie, but the just the fact that miley is in it makes me not want to watch it.

I didn't see Nights in Rodanthe...but yes, not all of his movie adaptations will be excellent. More often that not they are, though (I did enjoyed The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Message in a Bottle) so we'll see which one this falls under.

Hm - Liam Hemsworth is the name of the boy that's her love interest. His brother is Chris Hemsworth, who was in Star Trek and is set to star in Thor, Avengers et al. So I suppose Liam's is following in his footsteps. He's easy on the eyes, at the very least!

It's awhile until the movie is released yet, so maybe more footage will reveal whether or not this will be a successful adaptation

Yes, Nights in Rodanthe was pretty bad, although I quite liked the location where the action took place, which was near the beach (just like in Last Song I guess).
That Liam doesn't seems to bring something unique, looks and acts like a normal guy from what I could see of course, if you know what I mean. I don't think we would still be able to tell if the movie is good or not with more footage than just the trailer because they would only show the good parts, so better wait for reviews once it comes out.

Well, I guess I will cross Nights of Rodanthe off my list of "movies to see"!

Yeah, probably best to wait for reviews anyway before judging! I was impressed by the trailer initially, but then again, I haven't read the book yet  so probably a good idea! Since the movie doesn't come out til April, I'll have plenty of time to read it and see how if that changes my mind about the movie.

^I liked "Nights in Rodanthe" actually... lol

The trailer for The Last Song looks good and makes me want to see the movie. Hopefully it will be as good as it seems.

Haha, well movies are all subjective, aren't they? And yes, I definitely hope that the movie is as good as the trailer makes it seem. I've just got the book and am going to start reading it. I've got my box of tissues ready!

I bought the other Message in a Bottle (book) and read some reviews saying that it was the saddest book that Sparks ever wrote, I didn't start reading it yet though.

I think you should watch it anyway, it made me feel good watching it because I love the beach, it's just very poor emotionally and I had high expectations that it would be a good movie and it wasn't what I expected.

Yes, indeed. I'm not sure if I can find the original version of the book here though, but the translated version came out for a while now but I'm not interested. Anyway, I have the Message in a Bottle to read and once I finish it or so, will probably search for the Last Song.

Oh, thanks so much for sharing that! I just also recently saw a video about the cast talking about Nicholas Sparks and his books. I think the part where Kelly Preston talks about how Sparks is very in tune with all the little moments in life is SO true...very much what makes his books/movies so relatable.

You're welcome.

This is the song that she made for the movie:

Yes, I've heard the song...and actually really love it  It's kind of like "The Climb" from Hannah Montana - love the ballad and the video is pretty. Fits the movie pretty well, don't you think?

I like the song and I think it fits the movie! ^_^

I am excited for this movie. I think it has a lot of potential and I want it to really live up to it.
