The 'M Le Magazine du Monde' Thread

Suzanne always brings the vibes. Well at least for M Le Monde as I was never a fan of her work at VP, or even really Self Service. She seems so comfortable in her vision at M though and brings out the best in every photographer. An edgy but beautiful street story by Luchford here in the first instance, better than he's been in ages. It reminds me a bit of the recent US Elle collection story but more directional. Just wish Precious was used more.

Zoe's editorial is very atmospheric, particularly the shots on the street. Probably not as much of a hit as the cover story for me, but is solid and good to see Camilla contributing more outside of US Vogue now. I also always love the narrative descriptions preceding each editorial in M; it adds a lot of fantasy and I feel like hardly any other fashion publications do this nowadays.

Don’t know why Alt is so into purienne nowadays, he isn’t really good at fashion shooting to be honest, he is more into swimwear /bare bodies. but I am fed up asking my fiends from paris to purchase this edition) second week in a row. Are they planning to make same strong fashion content each week?

I'm not saying that Hailey or Ashley are better models than Gisele, but this story is already better than the one at US Elle that uses the same setting. The power of a good stylist and a great EIC.

Parisian stylists know how to work with a motorcycle :P.

The way M outshine everybody in the game right now when they are just a weekly supplement that is not even available outside of France. Chef kiss.

This is what happened when you keep your standards.

So Koller as a Fashion Director makes the decision to give Alt some projects?...interesting change of situations....maybe in the end they didn't end in bad terms after all....

So it's impossible to buy M outside France? not even Italy?...

So, if I understood correctly, from today, in addition to "Le Monde" and "M Le magazine du Monde", we will have a *THIRD*, completely new magazine called "Le Goût du Monde", which will deal exclusively with design, gastronomy, travel and fashion. In my opinion, it's an excellent idea since "M Le magazine du Monde" besides the periodically good fashion editorials, is notorious (political) propaganda garbage with probably the most gruesome and disgusting photography in the history of (contemporary/documentary) photography!

Le Goût isn't new, though. If you'll remember that Raquel Zimmermann cover we had earlier this year, that was an issue of Le Goût de M as well. I had to check back in this thread, Raquel's was published in March so it appears to be a biannual supplement if I'm not wrong.

Sorry, my love , you're TOTALLY right and I was wrong! It was the issue from March 12th, 2022:

This low contrast/hazy and/or extremely grainy/noisy Purienne's signature photography is just plain awful!!! :yuk: He probably thinks that imitating analog/film photography in 2022 is super-cool and artsy, but it's *NOT*. Especially when it comes to the fashion photography where every little detail counts...

Btw, this is the masthead for those who might be interested:

Majesty Amare looks like a doll, wow. What a face! Must admit that even Hailey looks great here. The black and white close-up is beautiful. I actually enjoyed Purienne's editorial, I always liked his faded and grainy style of photography. This story would've fit perfectly in an August issue of Vogue Paris... ah, how I miss that magazine!

So he is the creative director...it is weird that the Fashion Director had nothing to do with the talents who styled the shoots....

It comes from both but yes Jean-Baptiste has the upper hand. Fashion director of a newspaper supplement is slightly different from a fashion magazine.

what is the difference between a magazine creative director and a supplement?
