Just like renewing your wardrobe with new pieces every now and then, sometimes I get the urge to renew my whole 'look' along with it! I get bored with my hairstyles really quickly, and I'm always looking for inspiration to do my makeup differently. But I've been in a rut as of lately, and it feels like I've looked the same forever.

So it's time for a change again. I'm changing my hair first, definitely changing my color and the cut a little bit. I've been looking into the whole pinup girl thing even though it's been done to death, but it's what I'm feeling right now.

So, how about you? How often do you consider changing your appearance? And how do you go about it? I know I've been tempted more than once into getting the haircut of the moment, is it somewhat like that with you? Do you get inspiration from other people, other eras, on a whim? Do share!

Yay! A thread about makeovers! :woot:

I am in a rut now too. For years, I straightened my wavy hair and now I am wishing that I didn't because it is kind of damaged from it all. So, I cut it all off and am growing it out (which means that my makeover is going to be slow and progressive). I also want to revamp my wardrobe because I am bored of everything and find myself to be quite dull. I am moving into my first house on Thursday, and I have literally packed 6 garbage bags full of clothes to bring over to Goodwill. I am slowly going to start from scratch. As for inspiration, I get it from magazines and classic film stars usually (i.e. Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Lucille Ball). I rarely see anyone in real life who inspires me. My big desire with the makeover is to be more true to myself though rather than copy someone else's look. I just want to look like ME for the first time in ages.

Is this thread purely about hair changes ?
Or is it the whole package ?

Because if it's the first this thread should probably be moved to Hair Care and if it's the second Personal Style would probably bring more responses :flower: .

^ I assumed head to toe vs just hair because it makes it more of a total makeover, IMO.

I used to do it about every 6 months. I'd dye my hair and go to the salon and tell them to do whatever they wanted with my hair. I'd change all my makeup pretty much and I'd get new clothes. See if it worked for me, if not move on. I'd even try different skin care routines haha..

But then I did something silly...I let my hair grow out! And now it's kind of long and I hate it but...it took SO LONG to grow out. And ..I found a skincare routine that worked....and...well you know...rutsville.

I do minimakeovers to reward myself periodically. :flower: A morning at the spa being steamed and rubbed. Then a haircut or a set or braid. And one entire outfit from shoes to hat. Sometimes it takes me two or three days but that just makes it more fun!

I don't really plan or seek inspiration for a minimakeover - it's all about feeling really good, then getting an outfit that offers me a lot of variety.

Ah! Yes, growing out hair takes so long that sometimes I don't feel like cutting it. But I do have a tendency to grow out my hair only to chop it off again. I don't know, I haven't had it long for a while so I'm keeping the lenght.

I actually went to change my hair today. I got a choppier haircut but since my hair is so straight, it falls nicely and looks nice and natural. Also, I got a chocolate tone over my entire hair (I had a red-red-chocolate-black waterball technique dye in there). I really like it - you can still see some highlights of the red underneath, but I feel refreshed. Now I have to adjust my makeup and try to find something a bit different.

Minimakeovers are so fun, and a great mood booster.

Hanne - I meant it more as a hair/beauty type of makeover more than a head to toe thing, so I thought here would be fine, but if you think it's best to move the thread, go ahead.
