^I live in northern Mexico and I can fairly say that the scouting in this country is seriously the worst of the worst, behind for DECADES when it comes to looks and the kind of models they're looking for, they either pick girls that resemble drag queens, extremely plain people with no remarkable features whatsoever or girls that stand out in a nightclub not necessarily for their face but for vulgar attitude or disproportionate body.. and even when they score something good, they always manage to de-glorify it by plucking all their eyebrows, bleaching their hair and filling up their lips (and boobs!).. I think Argentina has been doing a great job as of late following Brazilian strategies when it comes to acknowledging the international market whereas Mexico is still thinking about spotting the next Linda Evangelista or Shalom Harlow with outdated Gucci, 90s looks, which is heart-breaking when you see awesome-looking girls out on the streets with Paris-material tattooed on their foreheads . One would think they get a few hints from the success of someone as edgy as Liliana Dominguez (discovered by an english scout who happened to be in Mexico City), but.. nada. . they make me want to be a scout sometimes. . In fact, I think that's one of the main issues with them.. even modeling is a hierarchy in Mexico.. they should start looking at the way agencies from overseas operate by hiring very young people as scouts and bring the idea here.. in my town, most scouts are well over 35.. stuck with certain aesthetics inevitably.
