I don't think that people buy a lot of things that are show in runways. Most of the brands survives of basic clothes- look the page of Saks Fifth Avenue for example- and, mostly, of accesories, specially houses like Chanel or Louis Vuitton, sometimes I think that the clothes are the accesories of the accesories in the shows. That's why we often see such outfits that are impractical and/or ugly
