Now had they done the idea in a silk jersey with the bands and made the dress more knee to midi length it could work. Or not even a dress, just a top from the hips up and already far better.

The idea of a the underwear waist band as a chenille like tweed is playful, but they did it so dirty by trying to be so prosaic and modest with the silhouette. Even if the text was in an ecru or beige rather than black it would be far better.
