Isn't it interesting to see how it's mostly "new york" designers who seem to take inspiration or produce similar items from either "paris" designers or themsleves..
Yes, that is quite interesting. :innocent:

I think it's important to clarify exactly what we're saying with this thread. It's one thing to say "oh wow these things look similar". But to say "omg designer X totally stole this look from designer Y" is something else. Sorry, but I think that's a little faulty, and very dubious in a lot of the cases on this thread. A designer can't copyright a color combination or a type of dress. Just because YSL did a purple blouse last season and Luella does one for fall 2005 doesn't mean she ripped it from them. And in a lot of the cases presented here, it's more likely that both designers are referencing an old technique or long-forgotten designer. And then in cases like Phi's fall 2005 show, it's very obviously and blatantly inspired by the work of Ghesquiere at Balenciaga.

I don't think that this topic goes that deep. That's not whay I mean when I post anything anyway. I think that we're just pointing out obvious outfits that look alike. I myself am not saying that these designers are copying others, or knocking off another designers design. I am just simply pointing out the similarities. Personally, I don't see what is wrong with taking inspirtation from another designer, but I don't think that this topic is here to say that it is wrong.

^ Yes, this topic was made up for entertainment purposes, not to be taken seriously, one outfit ressembling another doesn't imply that one is ripping off the other's idea. :flower:

Miuccia Prada is a big fan of this shape. Left: Prada AW04; Right: Miu Miu AW04. She also did similar shapes back in AW00.

Looking at Oscar De La Renta: There is a reason why all his collections look the same!! BECAUSE THEY ARE!

some of these designers are just reguritating everything they've already done. i think some of them should take a season off and recoup and become reinspired. would that be easy to do?
