I'm not sure but I think he actually used to come to Paris to watch couture shows, buy licences to duplicate designs which he then sold in Spain under his label. Either that or he just bought the designs. A little ironic considering the length he then went to to avoid being copied. But he learned by imitating. I think he remade a lot of Vionnet and Chanel, whom he both befriended.
