The 'Outfit Look-Alikes' Thread

This dress from Printing FW2010 looks like it could coome from the same collection as some pieces in Chanel Paris-Shanghai.

The first is Balenciaga Fall 2009

The second Giambiattista Valli Pre Fall 2010

this is the first time i see this thread , and i love it. i love how they all look alike and how things change also. I love Lanvin Fall 08 and Marchesa Fall 09 because are the same but in different color and material and year... i love it :) thanks everyone for posting

I don't know if anyone sees it too, but I found the piece from Jean Paul Gaultier F/W 09 Couture collection quite similar to the Balenciaga S/S 08's flowery armours. It's mostly in the shape.

And here's the JPG dress in editorial, I think it's also the styling that makes it similar to Balenciaga for me.

^^ but the color IS the similarity, non?
a beautiful association indeed. both pieces are very beautiful and distinctive (the former being very givenchy, and the latter very ghesquiere)

The premise of the thread is not to post similar colors, everyone woud be posting rubbish then.

^It's not just the color that's similar. No, it's in no way a look-alike, but I do like seeing them posted together. As Borja said, the dresses are very much the designers' own, but thematically they're in the same place. Not everything in this thread needs to be superficial "look who ripped off whom." There's a place for that, too, but why not post the homages and the pieces that are strikingly familiar, too?

I find that with a lot of these "strikingly familiar" posts are really up to one's personal translation. Therefore, if we were all to post "strikingly familiar" outfits, I have a feeling everyone's going to be posting outfits they think are "thematically alike," that no one else feels the same way about.

"Strikingly familiar" has too many shades of grey. There has to be some coherency with posts.

the premise of the thread is not posting copycats either, and unfortunately that's how many people look at it.
there's plenty of "but he/she did it before" or "they are from the same season, so it doesnt count"
outfits for the way they are composed, their color schemes, the texture, the proportion and many other things can be identified as look-alikes (which is the sole aim of this thread)

EDIT: just realized how beautifully ilaughead pointed that out too! :flower: ;)
