Hi everyone this is actually my first post, so please forgive me if I have placed it in the wrong section.

I have two questions: Can someone please explain the process a designer undergoes from their initial fashion sketches to getting their products to the manufacturers.

Also I was reading in a magazine (FASHION) that the designers for Aldo send their sketches overseas and then its back and forth from their between the manufacturers and the design team. What exactly is it that they're sending to the manufacturer? Is it just the initial sketch, or is it all the measurements/cuttings etc. Alot of questions, but I'm just so interested

Thanks a million

welcome to tFS ^^

Just would like to add, there are still companies out there who have their own manufacturing studio to make their own products. And in many cases, a design sketch will have to be made into a sample (real clothing form) prior to sending off to get mass-produced

ohhhhh k, so does that sample have to be several different sizes, or is it just one size that is sent to the manufacturer and then the manufacturer gets the measurements to create the different sizes

I won't know since we manufacture our own products, but my guess is it would be in all the sizes you needed since many companies create their own 'standard sizes chart'.

Why not contact some manufacturers in Toronto?
I remember seeing a couple of them when I am in Vancouver going for a walk in some random area. Their phone numbers were right on their doors. ^^
