The Queen of Crochet. French designer Sophie Digard.

I noticed a while ago that we didn't have a thread on her, which is really a shame because her handmade pieces (wearable art really) are very beautiful IMO and deserves recognition.

I have one of her necklaces and I've worn it a lot.

There's a marvelous introduction to her on selvedge.org which does her more justice than I can:

French designer Sophie Digard creates artworks that beg to be touched - curious crocheted flowers velvety with soft buds, each leaf and petal knitted individually. Alongside her super sweet roses are beautifully crafted jewellery, scarves and berets in intricately patterned stripes and swirls, reminiscent of a painting by Klimt. Her extensive colour palette - each hue is made up of sixty threads in merino, mohair, and velvet - gives rich, intense individual tones and makes each item unrepeatable.

Without further adue on to the pictures..

saann I think one of the retailers had some of the pieces on sale.. maybe convince a grandmother to get you your xmas pressy early this year ?

They're not with us anymore hanne:cry: but I'll try and convince my mother though ^_^

these kind of scarves are really my style:blush:

The star necklace and scarves are fab, but I would be so afraid of catching them on anything!

the joined circle clothes are clever ^_^
but the star necklace

interesting designer , thanks Hanne

Thanks Hanne. I love seeing articles like this around tfs, people who are doing beautiful things on their own. Her crochet is very old school (ie the kind I would find decorating a bit of my grandmother's couch) but in beautiful colors and stunning detail. I think all her pieces have that sort of heirloom quality about them.

^ agree :flower:

I am really into crocheting recently and this is def inspiring!
