The Ralph Lauren Ricky Bag

I'm not interested in it. It just seems like an almost...desperate attempt to create a signature bag of sorts. Maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but...it's not really original, it doesn't seem special. It looks cheap.

Plus, the name is totally off-putting. It makes me think of cut-off t-shirts and crispy bangs. "Ricky" sounds like the name of a style of jeans from Lerner's or something, with a side zipper at the ankle. It's like the name of a character from "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." That's probably the real reason why I do NOT like the bag (though I do love that movie).

^^
I think Ricky is named after Ralph Lifshitz' wife, Ricky Lauren.
The bag is nice. I don't have $3K to get a bag, so I won't buy it. What I'm wondering is whether Hermes, which is hyper-aggressive about its trademarks, may try to go after RL on copyright infringement, sort of like what LVMH did to Dooney & Bourke with those "Dooneykamis."

I noticed before I said I like it, but now that I look at it I dont really like it. The hardware is just too much, it reminds me of the Versace medusa.

This bag has been available for over two years and is just now getting a big push by RL. I like , not love, the bag but if I am going to spend that kinda of money I would hold out for a birkin.

i don't like it at all... it just screams wannabe birkin to me... whereas the bayswater has this more rugged feel, this is just trying way too hard to do the same thing as the birkin

there's a black crocodile ricky on ebay right now for $7000...

I like the green color on lilo. I saw it on a magzine here full page of ricky in that beautiful green croc. The color is beautiful but I'm not sure if I like the style it's very birkin wannabe.

i like it a lot more than the birkin actually...
i'd just prefer to not give ralph lauren 10,000 of my dollars :ninja:

i prefer it to the birkin too- but it doesn't have the heritage or craftmanship of hermes (not to mention status)to back up the price tag.

i thought i liked this bag, but saw one at a RL outlet and was totally dissapointed!! the stitching was really badly done and the leather was stiff and icky. and its a pain in the *** the use too. you have to undo the buckles on either side and then open the padlock thingy in the front to open it....and the top barely opens. because the leather is so stiff, the top flap is hard to open and get the the inside of the purse. i thought the practibility of the design was really bad, and the quality of the materials was not nearly worth what they were charging.

A little too expensive for something that I don't think is that great, but it's a nice bag.

... maybe it was a factory reject? ... it was at an outlet after all... :ninja:

I love it. I love it. Its a Birkin but Id save 5k. There are soo many sizes, materials, colors. Ive been to all three Ralph Laurens in my area and they all have different ones. The Tysons has a RED croc Ricky and Chevy Chase has an enormous striped canvas Ricky.

I agree, the leather is VERY thick and stiff, and opening the damn bag is crazy, also the handles are too short for satchel-wearing. Still love it though.

I think they may have done a price drop, because the camel Ricky in leather I saw in Georgetown was 1750, which isnt so bad.

very possible! but it still doesn't change that fact that its a three step process trying to get your wallet out of the damn bag:lol: and the leather is SO STIFF:yuk:

I'm not a huge fan of this bag but my mum has one and she likes it more than her Birkin and says it's easier to use. Me? I'd prefer the Birkin
