The Row Resort 2024 Paris

Their casting is always truly fabulous (aka Shirley Mallmann - wow). It really elevates the presentation. Clothes look good as always. Their mood board is always spot on. Wouldn't buy anything but seeing good clothes is always a joy.

All of you saying that this looks like Jill Sander from the late 90s or Celine from 9 years ago should actually go back and look at those collections. I just did and this looks nothing like them.

Agreed.

I have a theory that The Row is quietly (and smartly) mining and refining silhouettes from Perry Ellis in the 1980's.

Certain collections of his epitomised a sophisticated ease of American sportswear. The double breasted jacket in look #6 with a low closure at the waist is a silhouette that Perry Ellis regularly designed in his winter collections.

I think so too!

yeah this reminds me a lot of early 90s minimal american sportswear, grainy photos and all.. just with a modernized sensibility with texture/color. which I find kinda interesting given their age, as it was probably their first real memory of what 'fashion' is.

Very beautiful as always and very tasteful with this kind of late 80’s early 90’s presentation that always works…
I think I have made piece with the fact that The Row is not for me and I can appreciate that for what it is…
I feel like I can get more of the same clothes at Joseph. And the bags that are fabulous too, specially the big bag, I would rather buy a Hermes’s Plume in big size.

But it’s good and I respect the cult around it.

^ exactly my sentiments! I have to acknowledge that the way they present (both in the shows and in their exceptionally designed stores) is very chic and based on good taste. Their idea to have a sort of whispering luxury for those in the know is really well executed without too many pretentious bells and whistles.

From what I heard, in some of the multi-brand stores where they're selling, The Row is always in the top 3 of best selling brands. At their pricing level, that is no small feat. That is for the womenswear only, because I always see the menswear heavily on sale.

Well you know, Phoebe single-handedly invented every fashion molecule.

Although I get that this brand can be seen as boring, it's also so consistently, quintessentially, timelessly American fashion at its core, which at its best, was/is always steeped in referencing European aesthetic, but refined with a clean, unfussy, easygoing sensibility. Designs like this are such a breathe of fresh air amongst so much overburdened waste that's already dated before they're even in the shops.

And seeing the audience smiling while watching the looks glide by them so closely must be a small pleasure of genuine enjoyment (…unlike the ones at Schiaparelli— where one poor gentleman has the vacant stare of a hamster, more interested in what’s for lunch and can’t wait for the show to be set free).

Unless you are going to a resort in the Alps, this seems more FW than resort wear to me.

was looking at their prices now and even if i could afford it (don't make fun of slavs in poverty finishing grad school), i would rather splurge out on better designers they take inspiration from, vintage stuff from those designers, it looks nice, some of it even right up my alley though.
Their prices are way out of control, This is a nice line and i no they have a women in mind but 2 ground for a white shirt is a bit much. Also these are looks, u need to buy more they the coat.

This is their “Winter 2023” collection. The Row presents Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

VOGUE Runway conforms the collections to their grouping of seasons: Resort, Spring Summer, Pre-Fall, Fall Winter. Otherwise, The Row’s collections wouldn’t be able to be categorized on VOGUE Runway.

I don't think this was actually posted on TFS or I didn't see it anywhere but they hired Trish Donnelly from CK as the brand's first president in January.

The Row Hires Former Calvin Klein CEO as President – WWD

Presumably, they wouldn't hire that type of commercial profile if they didn't want to focus on expansion. So, curious to see the impact that has on pricing and design.
