Thorben Gärtner
German model Thorben Gärtner has just finished another fashion week season that saw him walking for brands including Calvin Klein Collection, Giorgio Armani and Dirk Bikkembergs.
His journey began back in the summer of 2012 making his catwalk debut walking exclusively for Calvin Klein Collection SS13.
Since then Thorben has shot editorials for L’Officiel Hommes Germany, Wonderland, Essential Homme, Hero, GQ Style Brazil and Made in Brazil.
His first campaign came in Spring 2013 for Calvin Klein swimwear followed by the lucrative Calvin Klein Endless Euphoria fragrance campaign!

Nickname: I don’t really have a nickname, but since most of the people at shoots started calling me Thor I would go with that… It’s actually pretty cool!
How were you scouted: A woman messaged me via Facebook asking for my height and if I was interested in modeling. After some chats and research I decided to give it a try and went to Cologne for some polaroids. They called me a week later asking if I was still interested and could I go to Milan Fashion Week exclusive for Calvin Klein.
What’s your best feature: I think my eyebrows are a pretty good feature, and that I can always get the people I work with to smile.
Top 3 beauty/grooming products: I love Kiehl’s Energizing Scrub and Lip Balm and my favorite hair product ‘Taft’ hairspay by Schwarzkopf.
Your favorite fragrance: Right now it’s Dsquared2 ‘Rocky Mountain Wood’.
What’s been your most lavish purchase?: Definitely the Playstation4 I recently bought because I can’t take it with me traveling so it’s more a thing to gather dust…
Hobbies: Gym, traveling , watching TV series all day long, sometimes cooking and I recently discovered my love for golf!
Fitness Regime: I try to go as often as possible and only train my abs and go on the treadmill…
What was the last movie you watched?: Actually one of the greatest movies ever made, Shawshank Redemption.
What was the last track you listened to on your iPod?: Paolo Nutini – Let Me Down Easy
Do you have any Guilty Pleasures?: There is always space for a dessert after a nice dinner.
What is your biggest fear?: Facing a venomous snake or spider in the nature. Luckily not too many around where I usually am.
What is your dream country to visit?: I would love to see some untouched places in South Africa and Iceland.
If you were not modeling, what would you be doing?: Studying, probably Sport and Economics.
If you got to relive one day in your modeling career it would be…: I would relive the CK TV commercial shoot in Los Angeles. It was such a different and wonderful experience and I learnt a lot on that day.

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you on a shoot?: At one of my most recent shoots I was really tired from the trip. While I was on set I had my hands in my pockets and started to yawn – no chance of putting them in front of my mouth – and the photographer captured it in the right moment. A good laugh for everyone!
What was the last thing to make you cry?: I’m pretty sure it was a movie, because when it comes to movies i’m really sentimental.
What’s your favorite fashion city and why?: I like New York a lot. It has a really special atmosphere and I just feel good every time I’m there.
Who are your idols?: I admire a lot of people for what they have achieved, but I don’t have a specific idol.
What was the last dream you remember?: It had something to do with old high school friends I haven’t seen in a while and a jungle exploration. Don’t ask me what that all was about…
