BEST OF BRITISH

London has always served as fashion’s source for innovative design, especially where menswear is concerned. The boundary-pushing local scene pulses with energy and a sartorial fearlessness that values creativity over constraint. As the London menswear collections head into full swing this week, take a look at 20 of of the moment’s biggest male models clad in the very best British fashion has to offer. From high street favorites like TopMan and Whistles to luxury standards Burberry Prorsum and Alexander McQueen, all sides of the London look are represented. The ensembles are brought to life by the dashing cast in George Harvey’s black and white portrait series. The elegant images pair up star models with the most essential labels around and prove that it’s the clothes that make the man.

Came upon this lovely interview with him on Farfetch for as it says: the latest Farfetch advertising campaing, individuals who have defined their own direction in life, and stuck to it. Anyway, it gives a beautiful insight into his personality and interests.

What makes you an unfollower?
I would say my love for challenge. I do not see myself as different or unique, everyone has dreams and ambitions, what sets people apart is the drive to succeed. And I believe I have a lot of drive. When I put my mind to something I go for it at full speed. If I crash then I rebuild and start again. There is no such thing as failing, there is only learning how to do it better next time.

What is it that drives you to keep inventing?
Inventing is simply solving a problem, I enjoy solving problems. It has a wonderful creative side as well, where anything is possible. It is where you truly understand the expression ‘If you can dream it you can make it’.

What do you love about getting your hands dirty in the workshop?
The workshop is a special place, it’s a place where your theories are put to the test. It is where you see an idea, a vision come true (or not). It is truly a breath-taking experience.

What’s the silliest thing you have invented?
A vacuum sponge. Because after all the hard work we found out the product was useless which to me - and I think only me - was funny at the time.

You’re also pretty good at chess. Tell us about that and what you like about playing it.
I was a sponsored chess player. I shall quote Judit Polgár (the Hungarian chess grandmaster)… ‘In chess the most unbelievable thing for me is that it’s a game for everybody: rich, poor, girl, boy, old, young. It’s a fantastic game which can unite people and generations!’

Do you use your chess skills in everyday life?
That's one of the greatest problems and beauties of chess. It's like a drug, your life becomes a chess game where every move must be calculated and that's one of the reasons I stopped playing.

What’s next for Tidiou?
Who knows, only time will tell.
