She hardly ever wears eye makeup, so what a surprise -- I quite love the drama of it when in combination with the sheen of her blazer and pants.

The only other time I remember her wearing eye makeup was at the Costume Gala in 2008, and it was a rare moment where she went 'out there' with her hair and makeup. One of my favourite looks from her.

She looks so cool and chic in that color combination, I can't imagine it on anyone else though. Once again, loving her makeup, her skin is flawless.

Holy sh!t she looks astonishing. How the hell it all works I haven't got a clue, but it does, in spades. The shoes are unreal.

that could be said of a lot of "style icons"/fashionistas/celebrities the world over but it's all about how you wear it/carry yourself and she's one of the few people who can wear repetitive styles and make it look like it's the first time she's worn it she has the wow factor and it hasn't turned into her uniform (alt & geraldine, beckham, jolie to name a few).

being a style icon isn't merely about shocking people all the time. being a style icon is about being true to your style and being distinctly different from everyone else. i mean no one would argue how influential and how discernibly different people like marlene dietrich,patti smith or françoise hardy and the like have been and none have ever been women who stray from their style.

i like this look on tilda a lot. i wasn't crazy about the use of those shiny silks but i love how she interpreted those pieces here. it looks rather quietly decadent....rich....like some kind of luscious mid-ages french upholstery....tailored to her body in non-flamboyant way.
