I love the S/S 99 from him. Come to think of it,I saw a jacket from this particular collection on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Its very cool. I can see why Rei was so obligatory to take him under her wing.

I think Mastermind pieces have some masculinity inherited from Yohji's deportment which sometimes he shows. and I give him (Masaaki) credit for exhaustive pursuit of another luxuriousness.

Yes. I see their stuff all the time as well on Yahoo Auctions. They appear to specialize mostly in knitwear which I find very organic almost home made.

Strange, I'm on a roll of descovering all these obscure (to us) Japanese brands. First it was Mastermind, and yesterday I saw a couple of pieces by "If Six Was Nine". I'm not sure if the brand is Japanese, but the pieces were made in Japan. Runner, do you know about them? I was particularly impressed with a white cotton crumpled shirt with elongated french cuff sleeves with one antique button and a big safety pin instead of a row of buttons in front.

it's another label coming from LGB (sort of like multi-label store which carries AnnD, Collection privee, etc and also sells their own products by the name of LGB).and yes these brands are Japanese.
I heard it's carried by L'Eclaireur, but don't know anything about this season.

I often drive past the store, but very seldom stop by, because it's located opposite the Russian Embassy which is heavily guarded. very difficult to park around there.
from only a few experiences of visiting the store and seeing the stuff, some pieces seem to have something spectacular and customized or one-off feel?

That's exactly how the two pieces I saw looked. The store had some LGB stuff too, but it didn't catch my attention (i'm not into racing motif, with the exception of my Watanabe jeans). That shirt was brilliant, but I'm afraid I am too short for it.

I've noticed a common motif of skulls in Number Nine, Undercover, Mastermind, If six was nine, and even Junya Watanabe (the cufflinks he did this season) - is it a current big trend in Japan or is there always a niche market for the punkish trend?

so "if six was nine" turned out to be obscure to me as well, after all!

anything punkish is always marketable here. no little market for that.
motif like scull in particular is an old favorite with younger people.
btw, Undercover does clothes for kids. I've never seen such articles of them.
it's the real thing.

I saw some very cute Undercover kids clothes in Vogue Nippon, a god save teh queen/ sex psitols style t shirt and plaid pants.


i love the skull motif, i'm designing many t shirts with it.
