De Sole et Tom Ford pourraient reprendre le chemin du luxe avec Zegna
« Dom & Tom », le tandem à l'origine de la résurrection de la marque florentine Gucci pourrait retrouver le chemin du luxe aux côtés d'Ermenegildo Zegna. La rumeur enfle depuis quelques jours : Domenico De Sole et Tom Ford, qui ont divorcé du groupe PPR il y a presque un an, négocieraient avec l'entreprise de prêt-à-porter masculin haut de gamme installée près de Biella, pour participer au développement d'une nouvelle ligne. « On ne parle que de cela en interne », reconnaît-on dans la société, même si rien n'est confirmé pour l'instant.
Pour l'heure, Domenico De Sole joue un rôle de consultant auprès de Gildo Zegna, coprésident du groupe éponyme avec son frère Paolo. Des relations existent de longue date, ne serait-ce que parce que Zegna travaille comme le licencié de la plupart des grands du luxe italien, dont Gucci. Il se trouve à la tête d'un gros outil de production, dont la majeure partie se trouve en Suisse.
La troisième génération qui pilote ce groupe 100 % familial, issu de la draperie masculine, a initié un rajeunissement et une féminisation de sa clientèle. Elle a lancé Z Zegna pour séduire les 30-35 ans avec des vêtements 15 à 20 % moins cher. Elle tente aussi de relancer la marque pour femme Agnona, spécialisée dans les lainages au départ, acquise en 1999. On peut imaginer que c'est sur ce terrain du féminin que les compétences et l'impact médiatique de Ford et De Sole l'intéressent.
Le nom de Zegna, dont les débouchés se trouvent pour un tiers aux Etats-Unis, un tiers en Europe et un tiers en Extrême-Orient et Asie, est encore peu connu au-delà de sa clientèle aisée. Pour renforcer sa notoriété, la famille s'est résolue ces dernières années à lancer quelques produits sous licence, dont un parfum avec YSL Beauté.
