NYPOST:

A LOT of people were scratching their heads when they saw Jennifer Lopez and Jim Carrey among the guests at Tom Cruise's wedding to Katie Holmes last month in Italy, wondering what the possible connection could be.

Some assumed it was the super-agency CAA, which reps both Cruise and Carrey and used to handle J.Lo. But insiders say the mystery link among the superstars is actually the Church of Scientology.

"Jim is taking the introductory and beginner's courses right now," a source told Page Six. Another source notes that Lopez, a close friend of Scientologist Leah Remini, "has started using Scientology phrases and explains the church to people. Leah and Jennifer have been friends for years, and Leah has always talked to her about the church without pressuring her.

"We can see Scientology appealing to Jennifer because, in the early stages, it is a lot of self-help."

However, Lopez's husband, Marc Anthony, is a devout Catholic and is probably resistant to Scientology, which believes in space aliens but not a God.

Some observers speculate that Lopez, who has had trouble conceiving in the past, could be leaning to the Scientologists for help in having a baby.
Reps for Lopez said, "I have no knowledge of this, but I probably wouldn't have a comment on it if I did." A mouthpiece for Carrey insisted, "He is not taking classes."

Meanwhile, Hollywood bigwigs were awed at a display of "sheer rudeness" by Cruise at the premiere of "The Pursuit of Happyness" in Hollywood the other night.

Sony chief Amy Pascal "was introducing the movie, and during her speech Tom gets up, goes over to Will [Smith] and starts talking to him - and then says, 'Hey, Katie! Come over here and say hi to Will!' during Amy's speech. It was in bad taste."

A rep for Cruise declined comment.
Scientology seems to be drawing more and more celebrity interest by the minute. Other noted church followers include Kirstie Alley, John Travolta, Anne Archer, Chick Corea, Isaac Hayes and Priscilla Presley.

Jennifer Lopez: Mission Accomplished

For months and months I’ve been writing the warning, in the face of premature pronouncements that the Gay Midget Dwarf was over – clearly, he is not over. Not over, not dead, not beaten, definitely not weaker, and definitely not going away.

No gossips. The GMD is not only none of those things, he is actually getting stronger and slowly and methodically building an empire – with Little Sci in place as the heir, now represented publicly by his MiniVan-courting wife, flanked and protected by his very own celebrity army, Tom Cruise in his 40s is strategically redefining Cult Mogul, and he has just confirmed Hollywood’s finest *** and one of the most famous women in the world into the scientological fold:

Jennifer Lopez – the Church runs in the family.

As announced this weekend in an interview with NBC, JLo revealed that her father has been worshipping Xenu for 20 years – the first time she’s ever let that little tidbit slip out. After so much time in the public eye, after so many exposing moments, after all we already know about Jennifer Lopez, she chose to drop this on us NOW, now that she’s spent the better part of a year hangin’ out with Leah Remini’s domineering finger and befriending the GMD’s RoboBride and, in the process, becoming one herself.

Coincidence or conspiracy?

By pimping Scientology with so many beloved faces, is the Church itself getting a new face? Aren’t Tom Cruise’s puppeteers so awfully clever?

Everyone has a price, you know. After all, it’s not unheard of to reach for spiritualism (no matter what form it takes) in times of adversity, when a particular obstacle cannot be hurdled with money and success, when desperation inspires resourcefulness…Doctor Faustus had Lucifer via Mephistophilis, Jennifer Lopez apparently has L. Ron Hubbard via Tom Cruise.

A soul in exchange for a baby? Is this her deal with the devil?

A little melodramatic perhaps but for her sake, I hope her fate is decidedly less damned.

As for the Beckhams being next on the list – perhaps a long term plan but definitely not the top priority. That honour belongs to the Smiths. Because now that the Caucasian contingent is well covered, the Church needs to court the Diversity card. Scientology will have a Multi-Cultural Face.

Trust.

I'm still amazed that Leah Remini is into scientology-- I saw this special about her wedding and she seems like the kind of person who would be very critical of unusual religions like scientology. Actually, in the tv special she was critical about everything

Also, there's a Tom Cruise&Katie Holmes thread already-- probably want to post this in that thread :flower:

"Lopez's husband, Marc Anthony, is a devout Catholic"

 Yeah, he's so devout, he divorced, (which is anathema to the RCC) knocked up some mistress, and then remarried another devout Catholic, J.LO, who's been married 3 times, none of which were by the church. Oh pleaseeeee, devout my ***. What a joke!

See this is why cults are a bad thing...the just keep growing.

Apparently, Cruise is Scientology's Christ-figure...

Cruise: The Christ of Scientology?

Tom Cruise is not just one of Hollywood's leading actors, he is also the new 'Christ' of Scientology, leaders of the religion apparently believe.

Reports in the Sun newspaper claim that he has been told he is the "chosen one" to spread news about the faith.

Leader David Miscavige also believes that in years to come the Mission: Impossible actor will be worshipped like Jesus for his efforts to raise the profile of the religion, according to the British tabloid.

A source said to be close to Cruise told the paper: "Tom has been told he is Scientology's Christ-like figure.

"Like Christ, he's been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right."

Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the 1980s. It was founded by L. Ron Hubbard and is, according to its website, "the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life".

At Cruise's wedding last year to the actress Katie Holmes the pair were reported to have chosen a Scientology ceremony but held a Catholic blessing later to appease her parents

Well you know how when you join scientology you have to pay a LOT of money..and the more money you have, the more money you have to spend (e.g. training courses in the bahamas)..and then the money is probably held off shore accumulating interest....:innocent:But its not taxable if it's an 'expense' or 'charitable donation'.....:ninja:

why now ? maybe because at every interview she recently did 90% of the journalist asked her about scientology, at the first 4 she said that she's not a scientologist and not becoming one. And in the last one the journalist aske her what she thought about the fact that one of her friend (Leah Remini) is part of the Church of scientology, and she said that she doesn't see it like a negative thing that she's catholic but that her dad has been a scientologist for 20 years and that he's the best men she ever know.

It kind of makes me sick. I don't know how Scientology can even get one member. Do non-Hollywood people belong to this "religion" too?

yes, of course or it would just be Tom and his selected celeb friends.

Actually, this has nothing to do with Tom & Katie, but scientology and celebrities.
