Tom Ford : Life after Gucci

Anybody remembers the Imitation of Christ "Bring me the head of Tom Ford" shirt?

This guy was a major force in the emergence of standardized mega-brands and I'm quite interested in seeing what he'll do next. Frankly I have no idea why but people on this board seem to have a strong distastes for less quirky and more manly fashion lines like Dolce&Gabbana and Gucci so the reaction doesn't surprise me. I don't wear these labels but I don't think they look stupid either, they're just not my style. If I was a big buff guy I'd definitely wear Dolce and I know some blokes who look great in it and that's the point, isn't it?

Great great.. personally not into what he did for YSL & Gucci, but it is always an experience to see what he puts out.. looking forward to see it :flower:

I'm happy that Tom Ford is back for two reasons

one: I loved how wearing a suit could be so sexy. it was just an image that I felt was strongly presented by Gucci in a good way for a man while Tom Ford was around.

two: I'm a lot happier to see Tom's pictures than that fat man whos desinging at Gucci now..

I kind of knew he was going to come back.....all that goodbye hoopla just for more publicity.

Ford's New Gig: Made in the Shade
By Miles Socha

PARIS — Trust Tom Ford to inject more than a wink of sexiness into his new collection of sunglasses, to be unveiled today at the Silmo trade fair here.
"It's a very potent accessory," Ford said in an exclusive interview on Thursday. "You can be completely naked — and I know people will think I only talk about nudity — but you can put on a pair of eyeglasses and look like the Fifties, you can look like the Seventies or you can look like the Nineties."
Or you can look like a p*rn star.
In fact, Ford cast two of them, a woman and a man, for the advertising campaign,
shot by art photographer Jeff Burton in Los Angeles — and no clothes were called in for the shoot. It is slated to break in January publications worldwide.
"It's quite sexy," Ford said, noting, however, that the pictures are close-ups and Burton's forte is to slyly suggest what is going on outside the frame.
...
First shipments of Tom Ford sunglasses are expected in late November or early December, starting in about 60 U.S. department store doors and 700 to 800 eyewear shops in Europe,...

...Ford confessed he chose eyewear for his nascent Tom Ford brand partly because "when I finally decided to come back to fashion, I didn't know how deep I wanted to get into it."
But Ford dove headfirst into the project, since eyewear is a personal passion and one of his favorite things to design.
"For a man, it's almost the only fashion accessory you can have," he said. "For a woman, eyewear has the same power as shoes."

I'm sure if Terry could include his penis in the shot, he'd do it for less!

But seriously, Tom Ford not being abe to afford Terry Richardson? Highly doubtful. There's little I think Ford can't afford! :)
