Sun, 18 July 2010 Inception Dreams Up $60 Million Box Office

The Christopher Nolan-directed thriller Inception opened at No. 1 this weekend, raking in a bigger-than-expected $60.4 million.

The phenomenal cast: Leonardo DiCaprio (The Extractor), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Point Man), Ken Watanabe (The Tourist), Marion Cotillard (The Shade), Ellen Page (The Architect), Cillian Murphy (The Mark) and Tom Hardy (The Forger).

In its second week, Steve Carell’s animated hit Despicable Me was No. 2 at the box office, pulling in $32.7 million. Nicolas Cage’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice opened this weekend at No. 3 with $17.4 million.

If you haven’t seen Inception yet, run to the theater and see it now. Or watch it twice, like me!

Inception's Tom Hardy: Gay? Bisexual? Who Knows!

Inception breakout star Tom Hardy wraps his arm around his fiancee, British actress Charlotte Riley, while watching the horse races during Ladies Day at the Glorious Goodwood Festival on Thursday (July 29) in Chichester, England.

The 32-year-old British actor, who has a two-year-old son with a former girlfriend, recently admitted that he’s had sexual relations with other men. He shared, “As a boy? Of course I have. I’m an actor for ****’s sake. ‘I’ve played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality, but now that I’m in my thirties, it doesn’t do it for me. I’m done experimenting but there’s plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life. A lot of gay men get my thing for shoes. I have definite feminine qualities and a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine.”

Tom added in another interview, “A lot of people say I seem masculine, but I don’t feel it. I feel intrinsically feminine. I’d love to be one of the boys but I always felt a bit on the outside. Maybe my masculine qualities come from overcompensating because I’m not one of the boys.”

Inception actor Tom Hardy has stepped in to play the role originally offered to Sam Worthington in Reese’s next feature film, This Means War. The pair will star with Star Trek actor Chris Pine in the McG directed action-comedy.

Inception stud Tom Hardy is quite candid about his past drug usage and family life in the August 2010 issue of Men’s Health UK. Here’s what the 32-year-old British actor had to share:

On being addicted to d*** and booze: “I thought I’d have a little bit of a party, and I’d end up high and frightened, in places that scared me. In a blackout I could end up anywhere. I might wake up somewhere the other side of London, or in another country. Or in bed with someone I didn’t know, not knowing how I got there. Bleeding. This was on a daily basis. And I was going to work. I didn’t want to appear rock ’n’ roll. I didn’t want anyone to know I was out of control, but I couldn’t hide it. Eventually, the body gives up. My body told me. I was completely kaput. I was lucky I didn’t get hepatitis or AIDS.”

On his two-year-old son: “Louis arriving was an absolute godsend. Children need things. Not want things. Want and need are two different things I have always mixed up. When Louis came along he was like, ‘You can’t think about you! I’m here!’ It separated a lot of my selfish behavior.”

On working hard at his craft: “Take Michael Jordan [for example]. If Michael Jordan goes out onto the court and has a bad game, it’s unacceptable. Because he’s Michael Jordan. He has to be the best. So Michael Jordan needs to spend more time on the court training or practicing than any of his team mates. Over time, technique wins over natural ability. People who work hard, with constant application, determination and tenacity – although they may not be as interesting, or have as much flair – will win. Overall, they will achieve a goal.”

On training for his upcoming film Warrior: “We arrived at the gym at 7am. We’d have breakfast before we got there. Peanut butter on toast. Then we got in the joint, had our protein shakes and a gallon of water. Then stretching, warming up – skipping. Then we’d go into boxing for two hours. Two hours of pad work for elbows and knees, kicks and Muay Thai. Then a couple of hours of Jiu Jitsu. And then choreography. Then we’d do an evening session: a couple of hours in the gym. Variations of weights, hitting a different muscle group every day.”

Tom’s trainer, Pnut, has a simple but unorthodox method for bulking fast. “I call my philosophy ‘signalling’,” he says. “Throughout the day you need to send constant signals to your body, so that it adapts in the direction you point it in. It’s better to do 10 press-ups every hour than 100 in a single burst. If you do things often enough, your body adapts for the task you set it, and you evolve.” Interesting!

Inception hunk Tom Hardy cozies up to his fiancee, British actress Charlotte Riley, at Mulberry’s Fashion’s Night Out Celebration at Selfridges department store on Wednesday (September 8) in London, England.

The 32-year-old British actor recently replaced Michael Fassbander in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy as a British operative pal of protagonist George Smiley (Gary Oldman). The flick will be helmed by Let The Right One In director Tomas Alfredson.

There isn’t a hotter man in Hollywood right now!

Tom Hardy bundles up in a Kathmandu bubble jacket while out and about with fiancee Charlotte Riley on Sunday (September 19) in Vancouver, Canada.

The cute couple and a friend lunched at Cafe Crepe before catching the Julia Roberts-starrer, Eat, Pray, Love. Tom, 32, and Charlote, 28, finished off their day with some window shopping.

Tom is in town to shoot This Means War, with co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine.

Reese Witherpsoon continues filming her upcoming comedy, This Means War, with co-star Tom Hardy on Tuesday (September 28) in Vancouver, Canada.

Tom, 33, was also spotted grabbing some groceries the same day.

Earlier in the week, Reese, 34, shot some scenes with Chris Pine, who was spotted holding a pie.

The film tells the story of two best friends who fall in love with the same woman. Their friendship ends while their fight grows to epic proportions.

Tom Hardy leaves HMV after doing some shopping on Thursday (October 7) in Vancouver, Canada.

The 33-year-old Inception star took a break from filming This Means War, which co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine. Reese shot a few scenes on Wednesday and did a little dance while listening to her iPhone!

The English actor was last seen spending time with fiancee Charlotte Riley earlier this week.

Denim dude Tom Hardy leaves his hotel after a work-out with his trainer, Patrick Monroe, aka P-Nut, in Vancouver, Canada on Monday (October 18).

The pair headed to the set of his new movie, This Means War.

Yesterday, his co-star Chris Pine was seen going for an early morning stroll in downtown Vancouver.
