Make your lists for favorite albums, new discoveries, EPs.. disappointments, etc, all the sounds that made an impression on you this year.. and of course, only 2007 releases count. -_-

now let the fun begin!. :magic:

Let me see...

Timbaland's "Shock Value" was a surprise. No rock throwing please :innocent:

Spoon's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" is much better than their older stuff. HIGHLY recommended!

Matt Costa's new single called "Mr. Pitiful" means he hasn't lost his cute folksy touch!

MulletProof, you're so early on this!
I haven't had the chance to discover that many new albums this year, unfortunately. I blame this on my new Tyrannosaurus Rex obsession.

The only ones that come to my mind right now:
M.I.A. - Kala
Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position (this would also win 'Most Ridiculous Album Cover')
Siouxsie - Mantaray
Justice - er... how do you that cross?
Digitalism - Idealism
PJ Harvey - White Chalk
Vanessa Paradis - Divinidylle

I feel that some are so recent I'm scared to include them here... Like, Radiohead.

Oh and I have typical indie rock favorites as well...
The Cribs - Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever
Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future

Babyshambles Shotter’s Nation

Radiohead In Rainbows

Amy Winehouse Back To Black

I don't have any money to buy cd's this year hence why my favourite album is In Rainbows by Radiohead . As someone who's not really a Radiohead fan but i find it accessible. So many great tracks on there

Back to black by Amy Winehouse. Again, haven't bought it but have heard a few tracks from it. The mix of her voice and the jazzy instruments..

Back to Black was released October 3th, 2006 in the UK, surely that is the release date that counts?

MulletProof good list. And I agree about Flying Cub Club being a disappointment.

Off the top of my head I'd say the albums I listened to the most were...

41Te1GAjhEL_AA240_.jpg

41Qf9mAlPiL_AA240_.jpg

19. Crane Wife – The Decemberists

That's definitely 2006 but I like your list.

Having no free time has meant I've not really got hold of a lot of new stuff this year. A few I've enjoyed:

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Soil & "Pimp" Sessions - Pimpoint
Feist - The Reminder
Justice - Cross
Maps - We Can Create

I haven't heard the new Radiohead album yet (shocking!) but I'll get it very soon. I got the new PJ Harvey but I've not had a chance to properly listen yet. Biggest disappointment was probably the latest one from The Cinematic Orchestra. They were excellent live but the album lacked energy.

This time of year is good though because all the mp3 blogs start to put up their "best of the year" lists and I catch up on everything I missed.

Do collection albums count?
Led Zeppelin- Mothership
Spice Girls Greatest hits :D

What a good year it's been for music! (I'm going to narrow it down to a top 5)

1) Interpol - Our Love To Admire. I have absolutely adored this band since TOTBL, and I found Antics to be such a let down, but Our Love to Admire is amazing, from the first notes of Pioneer to the last of The Lighthouse.

2) Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. I hadn't really heard of them until recently, but this album is great!

3)Klaxons - Overhyped, possibly, but still a solid album.

4) Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger; Anything Ryan does I enjoy, and this is no exception.

5) Maximo Park - Our Earthly Pleasures. Ever since I saw them at Reading Festival I've been hooked on this album

Disappointment of the Year;
Kings of Leon - Because of the Times. This album still confuses me; it's good. I just don't connect with it at all, I find Charmer near enough unlistenable, but then songs like Knocked up are great. I still don't get this album..

Honourable Mentions;
Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse.
