So, all the end-of-decade lists are coming up but it's also the end of a year so let's have our proper discussion on albums that came out this year and bring on your lists! :woot:

I don't think I listened to a lot of new music for me but Dark Night of The Soul was easily my top favorite, I've been listening to it regularly since march, it's so gorgeous.

To be honest it was one of the worst years in music but these albums made it suck a little less.

 we seem to get this exact same line every single year....

you have to find good music otherwise bad music just finds you.. :innocent:

 I say the exact thing every year too.
It's true that bad music is everywhere but I'm no detective either. So good music runs into me accidentally.:D

fever ray...my outright favourite!

bat for lashes-two suns
sonic youth-the eternal
patrick wolf-the bachelor
royksopp-junior
animal collective-merriweather post pavillion & fall be kind
the flaming lips-embryonic
charlotte gainsbourg-IRM
hope sandoval & the warm interventions-through the devil softly
miss kittin & the hacker-two
vuk-the plains

BAT FOR LASHES - TWO SUNS... I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS EVER
FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE - LUNGS
PEARL JAM - BACKSPACER
ANAIS - THE LOVE ALBUM

Maybe...

NOISETTES - WILD YOUNG HEARTS
LA ROUX - LA ROUX

I think Hamada by Nils Petter Molvaer is my favourite of the year. I liked as well:
jazz in the garden by Stanley Clarke, Lenny White and Hiromi
live from madison square garden by Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood
Neharot by Kim Kashkashian

However, there are quite a few good albums that were released this year that I still have to listen to. The new Kroke album, Out of Sight, for example looks quite good.
I think it's been a good year overall.

I agree with most posted so far! Muse, Royksopp, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are great.

a few that I also enjoy:
The Xx - Xx
The Raveonettes - In And Out Of Control
Leona Lewis - Echo
Placebo - Battle for the Sun
edit: The Sounds - Crossing The Rubicon

West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum - Kasabian
Humbug - Arctic Monkeys
Tonight: Franz Ferdinand
It's not me, It's you - Lily Allen
21st Century Breakdown - Green Day
Brand New Eyes - Paramore
Sunny Side Up - Paolo Nutini

It's so hard to remember what came out and when!

  • Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM
  • Prince of Assyria - Missing Note
  • Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
  • PMMP - Veden Varaan
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz!
  • Manna - Songs of Hope & Desire
  • The XX - XX
  • Röyksopp - Junior
I think those are the ones I enjoyed this year.. There must be others too but my head isn't working. Maybe I'll come back and add anything I've missed.

What's so great about these albums is that I can just play them and not have the urge to skip to a specific track...

Telepathe - Dance Mother
The Horrors - Primary Colors
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz
Chairlift - Does You Inspire You (re-release)
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Girls - Album
Atlas Sound - Logos
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic
Vivian Girls - Everything Goes Wrong

This year I only managed to find out about 'older' music except for Neon Indian which was my favorite album of summer.

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms

I haven't listened to much albums this year in comparison to others, I've been discovering older artists.

From this year, I loved:
Julian Casablancas - Phrazes For the Young
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Muse - The Resistance
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz!
Kasabian -West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum
Bat for Lashes - Two Suns
Florence and the Machine - Lungs
Biffy Clyro - Only Revolutions
The Dead Weather - Horehound
Norah Jones - The Fall

Pretty much everything that has already been mentioned.

I've only heard a few songs from Charlotte Gainsbourg's album. I will probably listen to that fully soon.
