I am really sick of the Shoreditch 1987 look. It is not kooky, nor clever.

Drawing on the faded glory of old British seaside towns, the design
team at Topshop looked towards the style of the teenage rebels who
roamed their arcades and piers for Unique SS09. In a playful collection
filled with mods, teddy boys and rockabilly queens, the archetypal
British seaside has never looked so haute!

Effortless sleeveless masculine shaped dresses and coats, belted
rebelliously at the waist and paired with perfect tapered trousers,
provided the only strict edges of this youthful look.

In true teen spirit, kitsch motifs and postcard prints adorned college
cardigans and baseball jackets, while sugary shades of pink, jade
and lilac made up the new Spring Summer palette.

Forget stars and stripes. An upturned horseshoe motif takes seaside
kitsch into a new era, punctuating the entire collection. Other
show-stealing hits came in the form of weather-worn denim look cotton
jeans, a ’stabbed heart’ print jumpsuit, rhinestone embellished dresses
and larger than life head-scarves.

This collection scares me for two reasons.

The first is that it's literally every bad thing about 80's fashion rolled into one collection of clothes.

The second, and even more tragic one, is that I'm just old enough to remember this stuff from it's first incarnation.
