That is definately the type of thing I picture when I hear trashy and tacky. LOL!!

I think one of the main reasons a lot of celebrities are dressing this way is because this is the culture they grew up in. Many of the celebs that people look up to and drool over come from very financially (and often emotionally) poor backgrounds. (ie. Britney, Jessica) They take a "stylist's" word for it, and put it on a/o they are sent product from a label/designer with no "how to" instructions.

If you look at celebs who actually have a brain in their head and utilize it by purchasing an education with their hard earned dollars, most don't sport the "trailer trash" look. (ie. Nathalie Portman / Gwenyth Paltrow)

Paris has no excuse, she just gets away with being obsenely stupid so doesn't feel the need to question herself......she wouldn't know the answer anyway.....

Reality is that there is a certain poor class of overwhelmingly white people in the USA who live in trailer parks who have their own kind of subculture. this is a fact. now this may be racist or not....

I think it is funny that we live in a world which is so oversensitive to race that nobody seems to mind to call a whole class of people trash.

as for the fashion - it is truly gruesome. I think this kind of newly rich style has always been around, but I agree that it gets more and more into the media with all that obsessions with celebrities...

I understand what you are saying (its a bit like council estates in England), but I guess it should be called 'trailer park trash' rather than 'white trash' - because I doubt only just white people live in the trailer park?

it isnt trying to be offensive, but white trash is the term for low-income, uneducated/ignorant white people in the U.S. It just is, and there are A LOT of them. They dont necessarily have to to be from a trailer park to fit into this category, but they do have to be white.

The thing is, this culture exist in more rural areas, and these areas are NOT even close to being current in their mindsets. So basically what I'm saying is there is the race factor, b/c these people still have racist midsets themselves and their culture is based on race. These are very ignorant people and they dress very very badly. They also have bad hygene.

It doesnt have to be trailer park, in fact I think it is more offensive to turn it around and say everyone that is from a trailer park is trash, b/c you cant put someone in the trash category based on the fact that they live in a trailer park.

My school district in high school included many trailer parks, and it was weird, b/c there was a definite division btwn the kids that lived in trailers and the ones who were more middle-upper class. it was cultural differences...and while I had a couple of friends that lived in trailers, for the most part, the difference in class was obvious and for whatever reason, we didnt connect with the lower class people.

It's a stereotype and also a social group that are actually proud of that name. Basically, white trash/trailer trash are the same thing - also, they are usually also called hicks, rednecks, etc

as to the pics above, yep, that's basically what they would wear if they suddenly hit the jackpot. You can also refer to the nouveau riche thread and make everything there look ten times trashier, and that's also what they would look like.

They are just people who look or act like trailer trash, only they dont live in trailers and the clothes are more expensive... but still gross looking.
