I plan to attend Polimoda and I just wanted to know about Italy. For those of you who have been there, how was your experience? What was your opinion and how the heck do you find a place to LIVE (!) in Florence. They have nice bed & breakfasts and apartments which, I think, may just be hotels. I want to buy a place to live and wanna know if I could buy a nice apartment in one of the nice buildings even if it is supposed to be a hotel or something?

I can't really help you with accomodation in Florence, however...

I recently went on an overseas trip, and visited Venice. It was truly the highlight of my holiday, a beautiful city with so much to offer.

I love Italy..and have been quiet a number of times..visited Florence but I've never stayed in Florence..allways in the country side.

I have a number of imo great links for renting old stone houses etc in the countryside..the addy for the best Tuscan Prada outlets etc..

Are you planning on seeing other parts of Italy besides Florence? If so where ?

Italy is fantastic. I love it I think I have been there 12 times.

I don't know about apartments in Florence. But it's a beautiful city.

Florence is fabulous..I went about 2 years ago..
I stayed in Rome, Florence and Venice..but I loved Florence the best..shopping, Partying and the people were nice..It's a beautiful place to be..I plan to go back.

We spend our family vacation every year for decades in Italy, as we lived on the border to Italy. fantastic!
I went to Florence this summer, but as I stayed in the beautiful "Hotel Savoy" and we rent a Villa - so I can't help you with the appartements.

But as Hanne said, can't Polimoda help you with that, at least give you some information?

You will Italy aaaand don't forget taking a lot of money with you It could get expensive ....

I have loved Italy the 2 times I've been there. My favorite city was Rome of course hehe It's an awesome country that one could need a lifetime to explore all of it's beauty. Isn't the Hotel Savoy near Il Duomo...or so I remember when I was in Firenze. BTW if I'm not mistaken there is a Gucci store near that hotel...

I am planning to live there for the duration of my education. That will be about 3 years. I plan to see all I can before coming back to America. Whatever I miss I intend to go back and see.

Thank you for your help and links. I am looking for a place to buy really. Polimoda does help with accomodations, but I nor does my mom want me to get a student room or anything of the like. It's more like an investment, so a nice apartment in the city would be great. I do plan to "interrogate" the Polimoda students and teachers about a good place to stay.

Isn't the Hotel Savoy near Il Duomo...or so I remember when I was in Firenze. BTW if I'm not mistaken there is a Gucci store near that hotel...

exactely, it's near "il duomo". you are right, one gucci-store is one the other corner at the same block. there is another gucci store in the via dei tornabuoni (the designer-boulevard ).
and 2 minutes away is "luisa via roma", a very very nice store

^^It's the best place I've ever lived in, but it's really tiny..Now I often go there in the weekends cos I got an apartement..If you need a place to stay I'll arrange that! I also have friends that goes to Polimoda right now and they say it's great!

I love Italy...everything there is so...amazing. Venice is a world unto itself, and the food in general and the landscapes in general are diiivviinnee. Florence is so alive, it's fantastic...

Florence and Venice are fabulous - as is the Tuscan country side I'm not sure if this helps, but if you do a google search for apartment-hotels in Florence it might come up with something?

I was looking information about its masters degree in fashion merchadising & management.. it looks pretty good but I dont have much information about it..

You will LOVE LOVE LOVE Italy. The people, food, culture, music, movies, history EVERYTHING is so much fun, interesting and breath-taking. The people are beautiful, the weather is amazing.

But of course, I've only been to Rome, Capri, Sorrento and Verona. Mostly the Southern portion. I would say, if you had the time and money, to go to Capri and stay the weekend. It's a quaint little island with TONS of designer boutiques ( i remember Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana) as well as the ma-and-pop shops. If I had the financial resources, I would run away and live in Capri for the rest of my life. Soo amazing

I've never been in Italy, which sucks since I would love to go there. I love Milano and especially Rome. Hope that I one day can go there togehter with my family and spend some vacation time down there.

ive been to rome and it was AMAZING. very sunny, amazing shopping and sight seeing, nice food, it is such a beautoful city!
