Travis Barker of Blink 182 & DJ AM hospitalized after plane crash

 This is so sad! My heart goes out the people that died in that crash. I hope Travis and AM will be alright.

What do you mean by "settle down and reorganize their priorities?" What makes you think their priorities weren't in order in the first place?

I agree. They haven't found themselves in any trouble or anything lately? They've barely been in the media aside from the VMAs.

I think that this tragedy will be one of those life-changing events where it makes one wake up and take a different approach/see a different facet of life.

He played drums for soo many bands and different side projects and you always see him out with his kids. He doesn't seem like the hollywood type at all. Very humble and nice guy.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the hollywood lifestyle at all. I think it's rather patronizing to assume that someone needs to see a different facet of life... Everyone has different values and morals... Everybody values different things... I would be really offended if I was into the "hollywood life" and someone thought I would see things "differently" because I had a life changing accident... Even if I had such an accident, it wouldn't make me want to be a saint all of a sudden and devote my life to charity or spend all my time with my family (not close to them so I don't care to be honest)... everyone is different.

Source: DJ AM Phoned Mom Inside the Ambulance

usmagazine

DJ AM "was completely terrified and traumatized" after his jet crash early Friday, but he was conscious long enough inside the ambulance (at the crash scene) to call his mother, a source tells Usmagazine.com.
During the emotional phone call, DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, let her know he was injured and going to the hospital, the source says.
He is currently in a doctor-induced coma so he can undergo skin grafts in an attempt to repair some of the extensive burn damage.
The medical staff considers him lucky to be alive, as the crash killed four people and also severely injured Travis Barker. (TMZ.com reports Barker was burned from the waist down.)
Meanwhile, a pal tells Us Goldstein's ex fiancee Nicole Richie ""wishes only the best for Adam and hopes he recovers from this."

I'm not one to name drop, but I will now because it's appropriate!
but they DO have their priorities straight and trust me, they are the nicest, most down to earth people you would ever meet.
I'm pretty pissed to hear you would say that they are about the hollywood life? That is so close minded and you DO NOT KNOW THEM if you would say such a thing. Anyone close to them knows the truth.

Anyone who was in a traumatic accident would see things differently after recovery regardless if they're into the "Hollywood" scene or not. So, I don't really see what kind of point you're trying to make here especially since Travis and DJ AM haven't been in any serious trouble or scandal unlike say, Shia LaBeouf or Pete Doherty; they keep on the down low these days.

Seriously how much more depressing can this story get

I really hope this isn't true...:(

tmz

Travis Barker's assistant wanted to get home in time for his pregnant wife to give birth.

We've now learned why Barker and his friends decided to get on that doomed Learjet in South Carolina late last night, and the explanation can only be described as a horribly cruel twist of fate.

It all started some time yesterday, when Barker's assistant, Chris Baker, told the guys that his wife was going into labor. Barker told him that he would do everything in his power to get Baker back to the hospital in time.

The quickest way back to Van Nuys was that Learjet. We're told Barker usually won't fly on private jets, but made an exception for what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of Baker's life.

The plane crashed shortly after midnight, killing four people -- including Chris Baker. Baker's wife went into labor early this morning. Baker has another young child as well.

Jeez i cannot image mourning my husbands death and celebrating my child's birth on the same day

^I just read that elsewhere as well, and now I'm just completely heartbroken for his wife/children. What a terrible tragedy...

a reminder to stay on topic and that drug talk is not allowed at tFS...thank you!

If Travis was burned from the waist down, why would that affect his playing the drums?

You use your legs to play drums too :flower:

This is a terrible event, and I wish those who are recovering nothing but the best of luck during this difficult time. As for those who were lost, RIP.

He loves drumming so much that, I am sure, he would find a way to work through it. I know miracles have occurred with people that they never expected to full recover.

what gives me hope is the fact they both jumped out of the plane and where walking and conscious after the crash. Hopefully thats a good thing

that's what i was thinking.
they were both able to talk to that witness to tell them that their were people in the plane.
i strongly feel if something really disfiguring were seen, we would hear about it.
god bless.

A friend of Travis Barker and DJ AM has revealed to E! News some grim, new details about last night's plane crash that the two survived but claimed the lives of four others.
The source says that AM is "really, really badly burned" and confirms that "his face is very burned." The source adds, "More than 50 percent of his body is burned and the worst is on his face."
The source tells E! that AM was looking forward to coming home last night and, in fact, e-mailed a picture to a friend that showed him standing next to the Lear Jet last night right before the ill-fated takeoff. "He sent a picture being like, 'Hey, I'm coming home on this ride.'"

It often takes a big event - a tragedy or a loss - to make people "wake up and smell the roses": saying I love you to your loved ones every day; realizing that one's life on earth is brief and to make the best of it; that nothing should be taken for granted; the importance of family; yada yada yada. You always read about this in books and autobiographies.

I have a strong feeling that in the future, the two of them will refer to this as the turning point in their lives and how it made them realize. What specific things they realize, I have no clue.

Well this is a little bit better "A publicist for Travis Barker and DJ AM contacted TMZ and says our sources are incorrect -- that Chris Baker's wife was not in labor when he died in the plane crash and that was not the reason Travis and the others flew home on a private jet."
