UK high end high st... just bores me just now!!!

Kookai, naf naf are still quite common

But some stores in the Netherlands I like are Costes and Forecast
A store called D-lite - i know it sounds strange but had some unique stuff

I couldn't agree more with the OP. I buy a lot of clothes now in obscure shops and online.

totally agree for example Topshop.. once upon a time I could go in and pick up about 10 things I loved and would struggle to put some back as I couldn't buy them all. Now I find i'm walking around practically praying to find something I sort of like never mind love... it doesn't happen
I can't honestly remember the last time I bought something.. maybe like 2 months ago??
It was a dress from Whistles with a safety pin print all over. So far I havn't seen anyone else wearing it ^_^
I would much rather hold out and pay big bucks for something I love than something I can just about tolerate. Currently i'm rotating about 3 outfits in my wardrobe ha times are tough
Come on High St give me something worth buying!!

im kind of going through this at the moment as well, and im finding that the sales arent as great as i would have expected.

to be honest though, i havent had a thorough look at the SS10 stuff yet.

It certainly hasn't improved. Although I will admit here to having a very guilty secret...I quite like New Look  I don't know why cos it's accessible as High Street stores come, but there's something I really like about it. There's very few shops that I like now. John Lewis has it's okay moments, but on the whole it's a pretty dire scene.

Still finding the high st in the UK uninspiring... anyone else in the same boat!

Same here and the majority of my wardrobe is still being bought from US sites. Plus I think the deals just aren't good enough our side of the pond. Whether it's from a site like net-a-porter or bunnyhug.

We have the same problem with H&M. Some of the designs are still quite nice, but the quality got so much worse recently. I saw a nice pleated dress in the catalogue but when I saw it irl it was so wrinkled and how in h..... do they think it is possible to iron a pleated dress?

I've seen so little that I've liked recently, plus all the shops seem to look exactly the same with exactly the same stock. In fact, the cheaper end (Primark, New Look, Internacionale) are far better at the moment with more variety than the 'higher' end. I'm tending to use smaller boutiques rather than chain stores, and of course I still enjoy looking round charity shops.

Good so glad it's not just me then... have began to feel maybe i was just becoming more of a material snob and a bit more stuck up than maybe as I was as I slowly progress up the ladder with work and have more disposable income... so im glad its not just me... but I think there is an element of truth to my material snobery if im being honest with myself!

the best place I've found is selfridges, i buy things in there that i never see anyone else wear and they change stock quite often aswell which is a bonus
the high street is crammed with this 'style' of inbetween (as much as i love her) kate moss and (EW) pixie geldof, typical topshop shopper style, which is sickening, they all look like clones

thank you. thank you. thank you. I just moved from new york to london-- and it killlllls me. I hate that I can look at most people and know exactly what store they bought pieces from--- and everyone wears pretty much the exact same thing. Then when I try to go shopping I feel like I can't pick up certain items because I'll just look like every other girl on oxford st-- it almost takes the fun out of shopping. almost hahaha

^^ Just avoid the High Street department in Selfridges... I love Selfridges but that whole area at the back of the ground floor is a waste of space! All of those shops are on Oxford St anyway!

Harvey Nicks has just opened a contemporary fashion floor too which sounds a bit like Selfridges third floor, although I haven't been to check it out yet.

The two girls who sit opposite me at work bought the same Topshop top and wore it on the same day this week  I never have to worry about that!

Again I went shopping yesterday ... thought id try the high st and OMG... there is the tail end of the winter stuff in and im like just NO... never seen anything I liked and verry quickley ran to my usual jenners and harvey nichols haunts... by that time I was not really in the mood... As i was walking along... I could tell where other girls bought there clothes... and i just thought OMG thats not for me... i mean that not in an identify the designer way but in a omg she shops in primark way

I actually may give the charity shops a go next weekend... although ive issues with clothes others have worn... im so after a nice vintage fur!

Yeh... I know!!!! I was not sure what they where up to a few months ago... but they have been fun... different as trailing round the same old shops week in week out was just a bore... and no differences in style from shop to shop... its all just so samy!!!

However must adm it... not really my sceene really!

I love charity shops, loud and proud! You've been missing out! Many a great find in one of those. Shove it in the washing machine and voila, good as (almost) new!

Went into All Saints today for the first time in a while today, they have got some cracking stuff in at the moment, right up my street. I'm off to Edinburgh next week I think so going to hit Harvey Nics ^_^ Everything in town today was just so boring...

The UK high street has been pretty bad lately. The only shop I've been in this year so far and seen more than one thing I like is New Look. Maybe it's because they cater to a variety of trends rather than just one or two like some other stores do. The only other store that's interested me at all lately is Urban Outfitters, maybe because it's not too widely known outside of London.

I dont think much of new look to be fair... apart from the odd pair of shoes... there stuff is just so awfully cheap and such poor quality... the fabrics used are awful!

Again this year im finding the same issues... Im such a material snob though... I dont mean material as in materialistic... but material as in fabric quality... I hate nasty plasticy cheap fabrics that itch or wash once and are just out of shape.

I so wish Max Mara, Banana Republic and stefanelle would come to the UK... any time im abroad I always love their stuff... nothing over the top but the quality for price is soooo much better!

Was shopping yesterday again.... bored of high st.... nothing inventive... same old same old... I need inspiration when I shop
