^Not totally true- I like Audrey Tautou! She's so beautiful, classy, and I love her acting roles. She looks nice but it's a lot of black. Would have liked to see her wear something that didn't almost blend it with her hair color.
c'mon Amélie is a classic and Audrey is just plain charming...by that same order of ideas who would care about Vanessa Paradis (ok she's married to Johny Depp so I guess this gives her another status)
I love her! Amélie, Dirty Pretty Things, A Very Long Engagement... I think she's a good actress, very beautiful, and I love seeing someone new of magazine covers.
Nobody cares about Audrey Tautou?! Good one.
Before Marion Cotillard started making Hollywood films, Audrey was arguably the most famous/recognisable French actress around. She's adored by pretty much everyone who's seen one of her movies. Amelie and Hors De Prix are actually two of my all time faves!
I'm glad that she's on the cover - she doesn't get enough recognition in my opinion.
There's alot of black on the cover - but I love the spots on her blouse, they add a bit of texture.
It's a gorgeous beauty shot. Looking forward to her ed.
Um i can totally see what he means by that. She is not someone whose face would get people to buy the magazine from get go. Sure she is charming, stunning, and a good actress, but i cant see this performing well at the newsstand, and is she for real wearing a turtleneck on the AUGUST cover? WTF! MC is even more clueless, and tragic than US HB!
In terms of general recognition - to someone standing in the middle of the supermarket making an impulse magazine purchase - Audrey is a charming French curio from a decade ago, in a film that was popular at the time, but not someone that the average person burns to know more about in 2011.
That doesn't detract from her talent and her career accomplishments, which are there for anyone to discover with a little effort, but a lot of people would rather be spoon-fed a cover with someone who's hot and making the headlines, than a class act they don't hear much about.
It is summer. Why isn't this cover all summery!?
Compare this to Harpers (and Vogue). If you are going to shoot someone, make the most of the shoot and own it.
Ill say it again, Harpers and Elle were terrrible and have both over time become amazing. They had a clear vision.
UK Marie Claire is all over the place.
Whenever I go home to America, colleagues cannot believe what has happened to it.
