sounding like one big nag in 3, 2, 1.. when are we seeing more vintage goodies from marie claire japan? no pressure, I'm already all over this thread twice a day..
Here are my Marie Claire Japan copies just arrived from there. These sets have some duplicates because I primarily wanted all the 1987, 1988 and 1989 copies. There are some other copies from 1985 and 1986 but they are in a separate box.
I'll post those covers sometime plus the Elle Japan stuff that also arrived recently.
That's really kind of you, Rosie. I bought so many magazines while I was in Japan last year - unfortunately it cost me almost seven hundred dollars to ship them back to the UK (and that was the cheapest option). Every copy of Marie Claire was almost 1kg.
I sent them the end of February and they've only just started arriving this week.
Lol.. I for one just want to go over to his place and look at the magazines! especially the ones in the first picture with the lovely covers (that green-ish one.. )
that's just crazy about the cost of shipping them home! I was stingy some months ago and bought some vintage framed illustrations in Sweden, which anyone in their right mind would've shipped home but of course I thought I'll just take them with my carry-on luggage.. well they didn't even make it to the airport, I abandoned the entire bag god knows where.. it's traumatizing.. and of course I cried.
So psyched about seeing the contents! I love that they're so many of them so it's going to be a slow trip!
Another two boxes arrived this morning. These contain all the Elle Japan I found - mostly from 1986 through 1994. There are also more Marie Claire Japan (ranging from 1990 to 1992) that didn't make it in the first box. The Elle Top Model publications have different layouts and editorials to their European counterparts. One or two issues are French publications as they are popular in thrift stores in Tokyo. In addition there are a couple of Japanese only publications from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
I will try to start work on these when time permits.
I put it through Photoshop using content aware fill.
The only way you'll ever get it absolutely correct is with the hair dryer thing.
Then you can scan pages right up to the very edge.
