UK Vogue January 2019 : Dua Lipa by Nadine Ijewere

I knew this moment would come I knew that I would hate. I cant stand this girl anywhere especially wrapped fathers in cover with a tacky art direction. Next.

Love that new photographers are being given the spot light & I actually like the photo generally apart from the makeup & the cover lines/masthead colours are off for me!

Very curious to see the subscriber cover & the editorials inside! Hopefully the subscribers cover isn’t just another black & white shot.

I just saw it and came to see and comment, but cannot really say anything new :D I'm glad to see her, she is really stylish and creative and I think outstands from the usual pop princesses we see always. But this cover is a true let-down. I can't believe that make-up! disastrous

She looks very matronly. The styling is not age appropriate. She's a young singer not a grand dame!

Glad to see a new photographer, but Nadine’s work is not Vogue. The layout and styling are bad.

Subscriber's cover. Even blander looking than the newsstand, if you ask me.

I love the subscriber’s cover. Much more than the Newsstand one!

So I just downloaded my issue, it’s approximately 238 pages with surprisingly a lot of content, lots and lots of editorials. The feature on Dua Lipa is actually part of some *get ready to roll your eyes* youth quake series that also features Binx Walton and an actress of color.

Besides that it’s a surprisingly good issue for the month although I would hope to see more spring and summer collections as most of the editorials featured resort clothes.

Worth the purchase!

Thank God I'm not a subscriber. It is indeed very Vogue Ukraine, only, the bad part of them. That specific image is too linear. Like the Alek Wek cover.

I find the subscriber's cover better overall than the mess of the main stand cover but it is still a snoozefest. It sure helps that Dua Lipa is not the person to rock this kind of styling. I've seen a few videos of her, photoshoot and all, and I find her to be more of a YSL girl than a Gucci muse. She doesn't have the confidence to rock something as ethereal. The "clean" make-up and that hair don't suit her either - neither her face nor her personality. Sevdaliza (pictured here) would be a much better fit for this editorial.

I wish Edward would stick to more of a formula with covers, I wish all magazines stuck to a vibe in that you could see the cover and go 'ah that's so ___' like we could with Vogue Italia under Meisel, i-D of course, Vogue Paris, etc. this is such a departure from where he was going no? This could be... Vogue Ukraine, any indie mag anywhere.
